I despise the thought of doing this IRL too but caving is in fact wayyyyy safer than it may seem. Pretty much all known deaths have been 110% avoidable and only really happened due to people either pushing it or inexperienced people not taking the existing dangers seriously. Good thing I've been watching these videos. I haven't been caving, but one night I woke up engtangled in my covers. I couldn't move my hand and somehow I was completely under the covers. I remembered the advice from this channel and stayed calm. There wasn't anything threatening me at the moment and I could breathe alright. I wasn't going to fall off my bed and I think that was the biggest danger after suffocating. I did a bit of meditating and collected myself. Then I managed to slowly wiggle myself free. I remained relaxed through the process and I didn't panic and I was calm enough to go back to sleep right after I had freed myself. I've certainly learned useful stuff from this channel!

[10:48] When Andrew stops for a breather, it sounds like he says "too much tetrazene/tetrazine/tartrazine." With tetrazine being a pretty random, albeit fairly complex chemistry component... that doesn't seem to fit the circumstance very well. And with tartrazine being another term for "Yellow #5," the common food-coloring agent, that doesn't make much sense either. So, by process of elimination, I must conclude that "tetrazene" was the word Andrew used... and with tetrazene being a chemical compound used in explosives, my subsequent question would be: Were you guys utilizing explosives in an attempt to free up more space down there? And if not, then who was? (Hopefully, it wasn't the person leaving their used hypodermic needles around!)

Yes, well, you're on to the fact that there are many types of caves. In our area, we have mostly lava tubes and talus caves. Talus is just a name for the bolder style caves with piles of rocks. Depends on the cave. In this cave yes, and we knew it... so we were very careful. We had no problems whatsoever. The problem occurred when we took someone with us who was less experienced. I consider that my fault and it won't happen again. I wasn't aware they were less experienced. They claimed to be good cavers and were a part of a caving club. Solution: I don't cake with those I don't know.

During the exit, the collapse you fear did occur. Cavers are safe.

Sweaty palms. Your channel and action adventure twins caving are the best. Different style filming but similar vibes at times. Great!

i think all of that should be filmed. pure educational and extremely informative, but i guess it is up to the person stuck. i would happily allow the whole thing to be filmed, also for the fact id love to watch it all.

Our newest video filmed myself. Because I was the one that got hurt. I would have liked to have video in here. And I would have filmed it if the person was my friend. Or if there was a go pro, actively running on my head. But man, I thought we had a dead dude on our hands.
@bomboclaat15094 күн бұрын
@@CalvinHikes yeah I seen that actually. Was really happy it was nothing too serious after you explained what happened and showed that drop. Applause for getting out completely on your own too. And yeah that’s perfectly reasonable, I wouldn’t know what to do if thought someone died like that in front of me. At least everyone got out safe and sound in the end.

Removing the rock at 9:02 seems terrifying. How do you know its not holding all the others up. My only comfort in caves is assuming that nothing has changed there in thousands of years.
@CalvinHikes4 ай бұрын
This was a pretty dangerous cave, given that the boulders are kind of stacked up. We don't know if they will shift or move when we take one out. So once we remove one, we try not to touch the walls if we pass through. But there's no getting away from the fact that this was a dangerous cave. Not my favorite kind.

We appreciate the effort you put into taking us on your adventures. From the (lost) cameras to the lighting to the editing. So few people even really experience these places... Really a great channel.

I was inside a cave in Nova Scotia called Fidels Cave,where Acadian French hid from the Expulsion in the 1700s. After we left the cave tunnel i used completely collapsed. I shook for days after that it scared me so bad. Stay safe !
