xRaD_Legend I don't really think this is the place for it, and I'm not going to enter a protracted debate here, but since you want to know: I hold what polls generally show to be the majority view, i.e. I think immigration should come down, a lot, and generally be restricted to those who we need, who don't despise us, who aren't criminals, and who are culturally compatible with us. Those who cause us serious problems after being allowed entry should be deported. Such views are pretty moderate, and were almost universally held on both left and right until pretty recently. Unfortunately, in recent years, many on the left have become pretty extreme, and now brand anyone who isn't similarly extreme as "fascists", "bigots", etc, in an effort to deflect from the fact that their positions don't stand up to scrutiny. (They claim to care about shortages of housing, school places, hospital beds, green spaces, seats on trains, etc, yet when you point out that the current unsustainable level of net immigration is not exactly helping those things, they fly into a tantrum, claim to be offended, and try to shut you up. It's like dealing with a naughty child.) Vested interests want mass immigration to continue, sometimes because they want the cheap labour, and sometimes because they want to use the new arrivals for votes and to radically alter our society to suit them by increasing centralised control. They pretend it's about compassion and decency in order to get support from the gullible. Anyway, that, for what it's worth, is what I think on the subject. As I say, I know many disagree with me, and they are entitled to their view. Just as I am entitled to mine.

Around 80% or more of wood burning stoves sold in the UK currently take a maximum of 12 inch logs. So the cut logs are only suitable for the larger wood burning stoves or open fireplaces.

With this this thing, becuase of its cup shape, you would be limited to only cutting down the size of trunks that can fit inside. And in the dense forest of the countryside, I guarantee you will encounter a lot of trees that are far more grand in diameter.

People that actually use wood for heating doesn’t do it as an enjoyable pastime. My husband grew up in the country with 5 brothers. They spent hours every day throughout the spring and summer cutting wood. No time for play because they had to have enough wood to heat a 5 bedroom house ready for the winter. It might be enjoyable when you use it in a fireplace a couple of times a week, but when it’s actually for heating a house it’s a job, a really hard job. I don’t know if this would sell a lot or whatever. But I find it annoying when some rich person says that most people they know that cut up firewood enjoy it, find it relaxing or else they buy it from a store. Sure, that’s how rich people do it. But for regular people using the wood to actually heat their home it’s not like that. It would cost them a fortune to buy prechopped wood from a store, like, literally thousands of dollars if they were going to use it as the sole or even main way to heat their house. My (ex) in-laws used firewood to do almost all the heating in their home. They had an oil furnace but it was expensive to use and they were on a fixed income. Until my (ex) father in law passed away 3 years ago he was chopping wood all through the spring, summer and fall to be ready for the winter. And I can assure you he most certainly did not find it to be a relaxing, enjoyable pastime. Jesus wept, fucken rich people. Sorry to run on like this, but the one lady’s comments really irritated me.

Anyone who has read Roald Dahl's short story "Parson's Pleasure" (or seen the episode from 'Tales Of The Unexpected') would recognise these two men as the country folk who sell an old chest to a conniving antique dealer from London.

To those asking questions about cutting the base; if you go onto their site you would see it says "There’s a 50mm gap between the bottom of the cup and the top of the beam, so when the sawhorse is set to the correct working height, it’s rare you’ll cut into it. And if you do accidentally nick it, the beam is timber rather than metal, so it won’t blunt your chain" (www.truncator.co.uk) Go to their site before making claims.

Peter: if you're from a small town ,and small state where easily 60% of the people heat with wood AND over half work up their own wood, this would be a welcome addition. I wish this would have been available for the almost 50yrs we burned wood. Dragons you missed the boat on this one.
