This is awesome seeing different aspects of farming. We bale round coastal Bermuda bales for horses, so we just use net wrap and load em in the barn. Fascinating to see the different goals and operations.

I have been thinking about you and your family with all those storms that have been hitting the Southern States. Especially in Alabama. Hope all is well with you and your families. Stay safe. 😊

Thank you very much! We had some thunderstorms roll through but luckily nothing else. I’ve seen a lot on the news about tornadoes hitting the south but fortunately we didn’t have any of that.

Thanks for sharing.. nice to se you thinking about the angle, before starting.. how many layers of plastic? What water% you prefer in you wraphay? Regards from Denmark..

Thank you! We typically have the plastic doing a bout a 3-4" space from one roll to the next if that makes sense. Typically a roll of plastic will do about 40 bales. We like our moisture content to be in the high 40's and even 50's if it doesnt' get ahead of us. Occasionally some of it will dry out faster than we can get it baled and it may be in the lower 40's. Thanks for watching. Hope to visit Denmark one of these days.

I’m just curious with 305 bales how many rolls of wrap did y’all have to use?
@FarmerHunt
@FarmerHunt 7 ай бұрын
I think. we started with 4 partial rolls of wrap and then we changed all 4 our twice. When we finished we still had maybe 1/3 of a roll left on each roller. I think with the way we wrap you can do close to 40 bales with a roll of plastic.

What range of moistures do you wrap baleage, haylage, dry hay at?
@FarmerHunt
@FarmerHunt 6 ай бұрын
Baleage usually upper 40's to low 50's. Sometimes we are a little under sometimes we are a little over. Dry hay is ually 14-18%

How many bales of hay do y'all normally feed in one winter?
@FarmerHunt
@FarmerHunt 7 ай бұрын
Probably around 1200-1500. It always varies depending on how cold the winter is, how much rye grass we plant and also how early we start feeding. It was so dry in 2023 that I think we started feeding a good bit of hay in late September or early October.

Y’all ever had problems with animals tearing in the bales? Thanks for the video

Fortunately we have not. I have heard of other farmers having issues with that though. Seems like I saw a picture on social media where some crows had pecked a bunch of holes in some haylage one time.
