That was wonderful Amy that DiabeticDanica told you that the same thing happenes to her when she is sick. It's so nice when others are helpful! Poor Henry...I always hated seeing my kids sick when they were little too :( What a little cutie Evan was in the corner with the crayons!!! I'm so happy that you didn't find his walls decorated with them :) I love to see your videos Amy...especially your boys and your cleaning video...that gives me a push when I feel lazy...LOL. Praying for sweet Henry to feel better. Like it is not hard enough being mommy to sick kids there is a special challenge when they are diabetic. You guys do such a great job with that!

You always look beautiful but I know that you have been trying out new makeup and it looks GREAT! Your skin and the application of it all looks flawless. Thanks for sharing how different it is for caring for him when he is sick. Its different for us as well with immune suppressant medicines and such. I can't imagine having to check his insulin levels so often and how it can affect how he acts/feels each day :( He is such a trooper! Hope he is feeling better!

His numbers actually came down this afternoon. Finally normal again but he kept asking to be tested. He was feeling low but was actually 118. I think his body got use to being so high. :/ Seeing your CGM eases my mind for the future with Henry. You are so wonderful to watch because someday Henry will be in college! I can't imagine how much your mom was worrying about you when you left for college. Okay, that was so off topic. Time for me to go to bed! :) Thanks again Danica!

I have to say, whenever I watch one of you vlogs I have total Mom lightbulb moments, like, "wax paper for temporary tattoos! Brilliant!" or "copy cd's in case they get scratched? Genius!" You guys are so on it. I think I may have asked about this before, so forgive me if I have, but it would be so great to hear about how you teach your children manners. My daughter is 17 months and so we are getting manners, but I would love some tips. All the best to you and your family.

stay strong henry i was three when i was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I'll be honest it doesn't get better but eventually you'll get used to it and it wont be so bad. So dont worry once you get on track you'll be okay. i'm guessing he's 5 now and if he needs help just youtube message me at the moment i'm 12 and i can do all i can to help you guys get through diabetes. e.g if you haven't already try research carb couting so henry can eat what he wants more often

UHG Leaim is sick right now too. one thing I have found to help bring Leaim down when he is so high like that is to give an injection of insulin. For some reason the pump just wont bring him down when he is that high.

Feel so bad for Henry. There is so much to learn about what to do with a diabetic child. I don't know what I would do if my child had it. At what age did you find out he had diabetes?

Also when you're sick your insulin sensitivity is not as good. Sometimes when I'm sick I have to double my basal just to get closer to normal. Could be a mix of that and the hot water bottle :) hope he gets better soon!

Do you have a specific "sick day" set of rules for insulin? We were always taught that most people still need insulin even if they aren't eating normally. Obvoiusly it changes with a pump, but talking to his Dr. about specific rules. Just another tip, my brother also has a pump and got sick at new years and ended up in the ICU with DKA out of nowhere, they make dipsticks to test urine for ketones, might be a good idea to have some on hand just to be sure. Hope he feels better soon!

Adjust his nasal rate, that should help. You could make a sick setting to use whenever he's sick

Amy, does Henry get Ketones with lows as well if he's sick? It's only been five months for us but I thought I heard one of our Team Dr's mention that.. Amelie is sick with a fever and has out of control highs right now too. Hope your little Henry is better soon. do you increase insulin by 15% when there are ketones?
