The local name for jaguars, "yaguara", means "a beast that kills its prey with one bound" - and we certainly get to see that play out here. The ambush hunters rely on surprise before dispatching prey with extremely powerful jaws and teeth - unlike other big cats, they often kill by piercing the skull with their canines (a technique that also works well for "cracking open" turtle shells).

Fun fact: Crocodiles tend to expend all of their energy catching a prey doing their death rolls. So the tiger taking from the crocodile when it's at its weakest makes a lot of sense.
@redelfshotthefood82132 жыл бұрын
Tigers and Cougars try to break necks. That’s why cougars ambush from above. Crocs have adapted to handle submersion. They have systems in place to limit breathing which the prey don’t. A croc sunning itself is doing this to battle lethargy from being cold. I bet early sunning time is most dangerous for the croc... and that tigers know this. Scaring them back into the water might be a targeted campaign on the tiger’s part against a specific target prey croc.

My oldest son was in middle school at the time and came home to tell me. I had asked him a question about who would win between the Great White Shark and a Killer Whale? His teacher told the class that the great white shark would kill the oversized dolphin called the Orca. Well just so happened a week before my son's teacher told her students this, I had just read a paper on these 2 animals. It was about the great white sharks that would always go into a bay off the African east coast. A pair of Orcas came into the bay and they haven't seen 1 great white shark in almost 2 years now. I called to talk to the teacher and told her where she could read the paper at. After she read the paper there was a link that I had missed somehow, showing 2 killer whales killing and eating a great white shark on camera. Talk about good timing. But let's face facts for a moment here. The Great White shark might be the big bad of fish and grow up to maybe 25ft ( a good healthy female ). But those pesky Dolpins the killer whales, they grow to almost 35ft to 40ft long and 3 times the weight. Then if that's not enough for the beast, the Killer Whale always travels with friends and family. The Great White never had a chance. Now this was about 10yrs ago when my oldest son was in middle school. Since he has graduated college. Learning has always been fun for me and I really love this channel. Take it easy.

The tigress Machhli(pronounced- much+lee) meaning fish in Hindi, is actually one of the many legendary tigers of India. She gets her name because she has a pattern on her face which resembles fish. She was known as a real deal and if I recall correctly, she killed the giant crocodile (the one photographed) when she was way past her prime. She lost a tooth in this battle but managed to kill it after a hard fight. She is one of the many legendary tigers of India.

To be fair to the Crocs, these Crocs the Tigers are fighting are known as "Mugger Crocs". Which weighs 4x less than a Saltwater Croc. No way even the biggest Tiger can kill a full-sized Saltie with this technique. Despite both Salties and Tigers being found in India, their territories do not collide.
@mstr2932 жыл бұрын
If you look at every pictured crocodilian a Tiger or even Jaguar killed, they are either smaller or about the same width and length as the cat. Ignore the tail, which makes the Croc deceptively bigger (only 20% of a croc's bodyweight).
@rafaeloyarzun63372 жыл бұрын
Actually, the Tigers DO coexist with Saltwater Crocodiles, and they most of the time lose against the Sauropsid The thing about Crocodiles is not the species, is the SIZE A 3.5 Meter long Croc can already beat a Tiger, Mugger Crocodiles can grow to be more than 4 meters long or more
@mstr2932 жыл бұрын
@@rafaeloyarzun6337 I already looked it up. They don't. Look it up in maps of their habitat ranges. India is bigger than you think, buddy. Also about the Muggers, correct. I've already seen a Tiger fail the nape bite on a smaller crocodile, the little dude has lots of energy to spam death rolls to keep the cat from getting a lethal bite. Polar Bear-Grizzly Hybrids aren't man made. They exist naturally in the northern regions where Grizzly and Polar Bear ranges overlap. As far as we know they do fine and can survive in the same way as any other bear, living more like Grizzlies than Polar Bears (as Polar Bears live more specialized lifestyles) The Lion-Tiger hybrids are man-made, as currently Lions and Tigers don't share overlapping ranges (mainly because we killed one or both of them in all the places where they once did). They probably wouldn't do very well, as they don't seem to retain the hunting instincts of either parent. Ligers also grow huge, but end up oversized of effective hunting. But if they had grown up in the wild and got to learn to hunt from a parent, who knows?

Most people don’t understand how powerful a tiger is. Their paw swipe averages close to 10,000 psi. I thought this had to be wrong but have seen this sited from multiple sources. If a tiger comes up behind a Crocodile that is on land there is a good chance that Croc gets killed. Tigers are known to break the spines of bears in both India and Russia with a swipe. The skull of a croc would not be able to withstand that kind of impact. BTW that great video of the tiger on the back of the large Crocodile is Machli!
