Fun fact about WW2 Polish army: During the invasion of Poland in 1939, Polish pilots had a very difficult time keeping up with Luftwaffe due to low quality of airplanes. They often needed to stay right at their tails and keep pressing down to shoot much longer than needed. Consequently, those who survived turned out to be excellent Ace pilots during 1940 battle of Brittain, since they kept the old habits that helped them survive and shoot down enemies now with equipment to match their German enemies.

While they were skilled pilots that really wasn't the reason. The Dowding system was what won the battle of Britain. It turned interception rates from 30 to 75-100 percent depending on the area. The use of RADAR and a fully integrated ground control group was what gave the fighter pilots the edge.

You can make Wojtek the King of just Poland or a united Slavic Union in Hearts of Iron 4. You pick him up as a general by doing a few things like controlling parts of Iran and also having troops in parts of Italy. Do that while also doing the Polish Anastasia path. Eventually you are able to kick out the fake Anastasia and have Wojtek rule as King. Then you can form the Slavic Union if you conquer most Slavic lands. He ends up getting a crown and robe for a more regal look.

He was a paratrooper who brought an umbrella with him on the Operation Market Garden paradrop because he figured anyone who saw him would recognize him as English as only an Englishman would be daft enough to bring an umbrella on a paradrop into enemy territory. He then used the umbrella to disable a German armored car by poking the driver in the eye. After he was captured, he escaped and successfully pretended to be a deaf mute Dutchman while awaiting rescue, despite German soldiers apparently staying at the same house.

There was another bear in Polish army called Baśka Murmańska (Barbie of Murmansk), she was adopted in similiar conditions by Murmanians (Polish unit under banner of Alied anti bolshevik intervention forces in Russia 1918). My uncle was under Monte Cassino with Polish army, sadly I was too little when he passed away to ask him about his service.
