A lot of them are killed when they walk away. They are targeted and killed BECAUSE they walked away. The truth is, at that point, when an abusive relationship becomes deadly physically violent, the victim needs protection from other people. That means you and I look out for our neighbors and choose to find a way to step into those types of situations if we find them. That's the only way to ensure the victim is completely safe. If you do not choose to step in yourself, instead of telling them to walk away, tell them to seek help.
