I'm 2.5 years in to my breastfeeding journey. We're down to 1-2 sessions a day. I have really enjoyed naturally weaning and getting one on one time with my busy toddler. Everyone's journey is different, it's great that you're doing what's right for you and that you're sharing your experience.
@Nicolelelagreen2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree with you all of our journeys are so different and we need to do whatever works for our own families and lifestyles. Love that you are still getting that one on one time in with your toddler because that’s super important as well!

You seem so calm! I get so emotional thinking about weaning. We had such a rough start to breastfeeding (tongue tie, low supply, mastitis, etc.) that it’s hard to stop now that it finally got good for us a couple months ago, but I’m also so ready for the freedom of someone else being able to feed him

Straw cup tip: I taught my 6 month old baby to use a straw in ONE day by getting the honey bear straw therapy cup off of Amazon. It’s for teaching kids with disabilities, but it’s perfect for all babies. It’s got a super soft straw and only allows a little bit of water up at a time and you can gently squeeze the bottle to make water move up the straw and then they get it. Took my niece 3 days to get it and she was able to do all straws. Now my 6 mo old tries to drink my Starbucks because she knows what to do with straws!

I currently just weaned my almost 9 month old because of the same reasons (taking a trip) I also felt like I wasn’t producing as much because he was always so distracted eating and just prefers solids. Luckily I had a freezer stash also so he’s still getting that + formula. Learned a few things from this fl video regarding the sippy hadn’t even thought about using one until now! Thanks so much!

How did you do it?
@kennydianabrown73592 жыл бұрын
This was super helpful. My girl (11 months) stopped breastfeeding around 7 months and lately has been eating more and having less milk (formula) she's had that same sippy cup for a few months and lives drinking out of it, I didn't think to put milk instead of water in there for her meal times. When I stopped breastfeeding, my supply was low already and I gradually stopped pumping until I absolutely needed to.

I’m a first time mom & Nursing baby now going 9 months she’s almost 10 months. & found this to be insightful on another moms point of view Im enjoying the breastfeeding journey no plans on stopping any time soon. However It did give me insights on how it may be hard for her but also me for me to wean her physically for me & emotionally & same for her. Just glad I watched it again because I guess I didn’t realize I would get emotional at the thought of weaning her so will prepare myself also when the time comes.

Our story is… she went down to two nursing sessions a day two months ago then one month ago she went down to one and it’s been six days of no nursing today (although I pump for comfort occasionally). After watching your video, it encouraged me to try formula again. But I think that I’m going to still have 1/2 nursing sessions in the evenings, and even pump to mix my milk into his formula to help with the transition, as well as keep those extra nutrients from my milk in his diet.

I weaned slowly and didn’t have any engorgement or any problems. I started weaning my first child at 9 and 1/2 months and finished at 131/2 months. He went from breast to sippy cup. With my last child I breast fed for 241/2 months. He weaned himself. I started to gradually reduce feeds from about 14 months. He also was weaned onto a snippy cup. I started using the sippy cup with boiled water from around 6 months and the older he became the more he drank from the sippy cup. Doing it this way mean I skipped another weaning. (Weaning from the bottle.). Every baby is different so as long as Bub and mum is happy. There is no wrong way to wean.

Still breastfeeding my 13 month old son. He takes no bottle whatsoever, he does drink water out of a sippy cup tho. He’s also a very picky eater and only has one tooth so far so that makes weaning harder for sure.

What books do you follow on baby led weaning, I panic a bit as she tends to gag a lot and it disheartens me xx

This has been really helpful thank you. I have a 10mth old and am going through exactly this too. Keeping the breastfeed in the morning for now also. One question... does Aria still wake at all at night for a breastfeed? My baby boy wakes once a night between 11pm-2am for a feed so I'm wondering if that's because he hasn't had enough in the day but also heard this is still v normal!?

I think it's mostly her own desire but also we only borrowed a baby acitivity center (the saucer kind) for a short time and then had to give it back to our friend so maybe since she was free to roam around it encouraged her to stand sooner?

Can we get an update on the babybay crib? Did you get the crib conversion kit? It looks like it in the video but not sure if that’s a different crib altogether. An update video about how the babybay worked out for you would be SO helpful, as its an expensive crib and all the other videos are basically just people babybay sent the crib to and they haven’t used it much yet.

My eldest son (28mths) stopped breastfeeding around the 9/10 month mark. I struggled with milk supply since he was 4 mths old and had to supplement with formula. He enjoyed the bottle and BLW was going great that by the 9ish month, he started to refuse to breastfeed. It broke my heart to stop, but took it as a blessing (cuz weaning can be difficult). I however never gave him his formula in a sippy cup. He drank his formula/milk in his bottle until he was almost 2 years old. At 2 years, I cold turkey him from the bottle and offered milk in a regular cup. Sippy cups are mostly just water on our end (never thought of offering milk in it). Baby #2 is 7 months old and I have a feeling I'll need to wean this time around.

why weaning at 10 months into the formula? I don't see the logic in another 2 months and the baby doesn't need formula at all, if you don't want continuing breastfeeding.
