Weapons of Modern Warfare - MP7

In this episode, we're taking a look at the MP7.
The MP7, or 'Maschinenpistole Sieben' is a weapon that makes its debut appearance in Modern Warfare 3.
It's a German weapon, manufactured by Heckler und Koch - and while designated as an SMG in-game, can be better described in real-life as a 'Personal Defence Weapon', or PDW.
Personal Defence Weapons have largely displaced the submachine gun and machine pistol in their roles with rear echelon troops - with their ability to better penetrate body armour, they retain effectiveness where standard pistol calibres might prove ineffective.
They have has found a place in the hands of special forces units, as well - replacing weapons such as the M4 carbine on missions that require manoeuvrable close-range power.
The MP7 can trace its design roots to the H&K G36 - as both weapons share the same gas-operated action.
The short-stroke piston replaced H&K's trademark roller-delayed blowback system, as employed in the G3 rifle, and MP5 submachine gun.
H&K's first attempt at a Personal Defence Weapon was a modification of the MP5 - in 1991 the MP5K-PDW variant was introduced, in an attempt to fulfil a NATO requirements for such a weapon.
Lacking the ability to pierce body armour, however, the MP5K-PDW saw limited success.
The Belgian FN P90, introduced in the same year as the MP5K-PDW, performed slightly better.
Similar to the MP7, it uses a higher-velocity, smaller calibre cartridge for effectiveness against armoured targets - and an unusual top-loading magazine configuration.
Other Personal Defence Weapons include the Russian PP-2000: chambered for 9mm Parabellum rounds but taking advantage of specially-designed ammunition;
The Knight's Armament Company PDW - designed to be familiar to those trained on the M4 platform;
and the Magpul PDR: a futuristic compact bullpup that fires NATO 5.56 ammo and takes standard mags.
These weapons, including the MP7, all share similar characteristics: their compact size, lightweight manoeuvrability and high-velocity ammunition make them ideal close-quarter weapons.
The MP7 entered production in 2001, introduced alongside its proprietary cartridge: the HK 4.6x30mm.
The bullet contains a steel core to aid with penetration, and with a muzzle velocity of over 700 metres per second - double the speed of a 9mm round - it's not hard to see why this custom cartridge performs so well against armour.
In addition to the MP7, the 4.6mm round was planned to be used in the now-cancelled HK UCP: A sidearm in the same vein as FN's Five-seveN pistol, which uses the same cartridge as the P90.
Magazines for the MP7 are of a standard box type, contained within the pistol grip. They're available in both 20 and 40 round capacities.
Rate of fire is quite high, at 950 rounds per minute - and paired with the lower recoil of the smaller cartridge, automatic fire can be quite effective.
The MP7 weighs in at a mere 1.5 kilograms when unloaded, and measures a diminutive 340 millimetres with the stock folded.
Unfolded, the weapon extends to 540 millimetres - a little over half a metre - and the barrel itself is 180mm long.
Since its introduction, the MP7 has been adopted by many different agencies: including the Austria's EKO Cobra, the German Army and GSG-9 units, UK Police forces, and the United State's SEAL Team Six: with whom the weapon was purportedly used during the raid of Osama Bin Laden's compound in 2011.
The MP7 in MW3 has earned a reputation as a terrifyingly effective weapon, with its low recoil granting very effective performance.
Just like its real-life counterpart, it is lightweight with rapid handling characteristics: and can dominate close-range engagements.
It might be designed for Personal Defense - but the MP7 is equally comfortable on offense.

The issue with MW2019 is that 80% of the weapons in the game are fakely named weapons meant to look like the real life versions. Like the newish 50 cal SNR that is obviously a Barrett 50 Cal but not called as such. All the weapons in MW1-3 were real weapons, how he was able to get all the information about them across. Would be very hard to do that for MW2019 when pretty much none of the weapons are correctly named.

@@KlLLERROBOT99 They’re mostly accurate representations of the real thing and despite not having the real names of certain guns, there are many places which give the real names of the guns. Plus i’m sure a dude like Ahoy knows what he’s doing when it comes to research. The hardest thing about it tho is that because of how often IW can update now, the guns will always be changing as they are nerfed and buffed. If you’re looking for a good gun guide, then Xclusive Ace is the best choice that i’ve found

I don't think you need much skill for that effect. The caliber is extremely small, so there's not much force that your shoulder would need to handle.

Idk where this guy got his facts from but the mp7 was not designed to replace your typical battle rifle or intermediate rifle round. It was made to replace your side arm and was only used for special military application. This gun wouldn't stand a chance against any fire arm today unless it was Goin against a semi auto pistol

+michael burke But your CQB comment is true. In real life, you would be using a submachine gun or personal defense weapon in most of the call of duty maps. Also, it's stupid how they give some of the guns so much recoil. I've seen civilian shooters shoot a whole mag out of a HK g36c on fully automatic, and they kept the rifle perfectly stable the whole time. Whereas the delta force operator in call of duty has the rifle severely kick upwards. I call bullshit. A delta force or SAS or whatever operator should be able to hold the standard 5.56 and 9mm firearms perfectly stable in fully automatic fire.

L85A1 was a good idea but didn't really work. The L85A2 was when the Magazine was fixed, the jamming was reduced significantly, and the firing pin was completely remade. The butt pad is fine, in fact it's better than fine due to the very thick rubber causing no problems at all. I should know, I've used it. The L85 is a great weapon. It had it's teething problems just like the M-16, and have been fixed. Many people just haven't had the chance to see one up close and get taught on how to use it.

actually, Fabrique Nationale markets the P90 as a PDW as opposed to an SMG. that was one of the reasons for making it so compact, so that it would be easier to maneuver inside a vehicle.

In game it's a rifle. So lets keep it at that. The term used by soldiers is short carbine. It's also a variant of the G36 and uses the same ammo, action, and stock.

The MP7 and the MP5 are both produced by Heckler & Koch. The MP9 was first produced by a different company as the TMP, but the design was sold to H&K recently.

The P90 is considered a PDW, it uses a custom cartridge as opposed to a standard pistol cartridge. It was one of the first modern PDWs to be designed. The main reason why the Five-seven uses the same ammo is that it's meant to be the companion weapon of the P90.

only becuase of it's carbine length barrel. The G36C is really a carbine, and the MG36 is the LSW variant of the G36 assault rifle. It has a heavier and longer barrel, along with a extended hand guard

No, the P90's magazine is 50 rounds, and the Knight's Armament PDW has a 30 round magazine. The Magpul PDR uses standard M4/M16 magazines, so you'll most likely find it using 30 round magazines.

The MP7 and ACR are good weapons no doubt but I have recently fallen in love with other guns like the G36C and P90 and Ive realized all guns with the right perks and profecenices are awesome and Ive come to find using other weapons are as fun if not more fun then the common ACR, MP7, Type 95 etc

yea thats true. it takes like 3 hits to kill someone, but it shoots so fast and accurate you can get 6 shots in before someone gets 3. i remember i was using a silencer from far away and i got like 6 hitmarkers xD but 6 hitmarkers in like 1 1/2 seconds xD
