@alexjovel76224 жыл бұрын
in the context of this video "first-generation" refers to the first in your generation in your family to go to college. you'd be a first-generation american citizen.

As a first gen college student, having my parents see me graduate with my BA brought me to tears knowing that they sacrificed so much in order for me to be there, this spring, they will watch my graduate with my masters and watch me accomplish even more things than I thought possible 😭 thank you Ama and Apa 🥰🥰

As a first gen it’s full of struggles and losing motivation at times. I’m currently feeling like that, but this video helped me remember que me ponga las pilas!! My parents sacrificed a lot for me to be where I’m at. To all my first gens you’re killing it, keep it going. My dad once told me, “ Siendo la primera es difícil, pero con ganas y tus esfuerzos si lo lograrás. Al final ustedes salen aprendiendo más y son de los más chingones💪.” 🇲🇽

I graduated from college .I was the 1st one to accomplish so much in my family but I let it all go when I got shot and was diagnosed with PTSD .My mental struggle has left me paralyzed with fear and I want more in life for me and my family but I'm scared to go outside anymore ,home is where I feel safe .I pray and hope God is not done with me and that my life story is not over yet .I want to reach the stars and give my family everything they ever dreamed of and more .

I graduated first in my family. My two older sisters didn’t go to college and they had the opportunity. That day was so special. The way my mom and dad looked at me and the special dinner they had for me after. Amazing feeling ever.

Don't take these success stories as the be-all-end-all. We tend to think of "acomplishment" as this one thing, but it's never really that simple. Focus on what drives you, what you're good at and what you're passionate about. Also, make yourself proud before dedicatedly pleasing anyone else.

At the age of 18, I will be graduating with both a high school diploma and an Associate in Science Degree. Everything is for my parents and to show them that I want to achieve more, as they have always wanted. They’ve set a great example and thanks to them, I will be the first person in my whole family to graduate and early! 🥳

The point is that they are attending university, a benefit that most immigrants never experience due to the struggles of learning English and adapting to new cultures in the first place. Debt wise, they recieve benefits based on income which for most immigrant families is around middle class which helps them afford this education. Please don't step down people because you don't see the whole picture.

I just have one question. I mean I like these videos and all, but why is it only Mexicans? There are a lot more immigrants. For example, Cuba, Colombia, Russia, brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, China, Australia, germans. No hate, but just wondering.
