Incredibly nobody has mentioned Mark Webber so far! He made a few moves in the 2000s but his move from Williams to Red Bull was the most significant, as he and Coulthard together matured the Red Bull team, and their efforts plus that of Newry and Horner made the team ready for championship when Vettel joined.

I think that depends how high the driver's stock already was. Webber did score points on debut in a Minardi, but always seemed plagued by bad luck when it came to team moves - first to Jaguar, then to a post-BMW shell of Williams. That will have inevitably played against people's expectations of Webber prior to claiming his first win in a Red Bull. I think that's a similar reason as to why we sadly didn't see one of the highly successful teams of the 2000s snap up Nick Heidfeld. He likely would have achieved far greater things in machinery like the R25 or MP4-17.

As Vettel made his F1 debut with BMW, I would include his move to Toro Rosso on the list. After 1 race with BMW under his belt where he replaced the resting (in doctors orders) Robert Kubica at Indy, Vettel was called upon to be the long term replacement for Scott Speed at Toro Rosso from Hungary onwards. At the previous race, after aquaplaning in the torrential rain at the start of the European Grand Prix at Nurburgring, team boss Franz Tost allegedly greeted Speed on his return to the pits with a knuckle sandwich. Fed up with how he was treated, Speed walked away. This turn of events was significant, although people didn't know it at the time. Qualifying 20th, just over a second slower than team mate Tonio Liuzzi, and finishing 16th, it was a low key start from a driver driving a Red Bull backed car for the first time. A year later, he took the Faenza team their first win (some of whom had been there since Minardi days) and as mentioned, a year afterwards joined Red Bull Racing and took them to 4 titles in 6 seasons

I know about the usual fortune making companies, they are the same in F1; they deal with contracts and look for profite: even a legend like Michael Schumacher has been chomped by Montezemolo and Ferrari for Raikkonen (started back in 2004/2005), same happened to Vettel lately (2019) at Ferrari ... McLaren (Civil war drivers, Spygate) and other teams, such as Renault (Crashgate my multi-million-pig Briatore), Red Bull and the sister team (Helmut "burn my carreer" Marko), Mercedes (favoritism to Lewis, I need 50 mill, a share and "Bono my Valttery is gone") This is how all teams treat their drivers and many drivers "their" team, they all don't care about anyone, they just care about the figures, if in the end the deal was worth it ... Both parties end to be humble and sportsman when it comes down to the money ...
