I don't really care if Honda-powered Red Bull win the championship this season or not. But this Chapter of Honda F1 programme has been one of the most amazing story in the sport. From being a laughingstock to compete directly with the King of V6 Turbo Hybrid. While also starting the development later than other manufacturers. I think Honda can leave this sport with their heads up knowing that they have done such an incredible job, and putting Renault (and Ferrari) to shame.

Definitely agree. The fact that no other manufacturers joined aside from Honda is proof how much of a risk it is as having any amount of lead time in development is a huge advantage in comparison to a new manufacturer as was shown when Honda was way behind at the time. Imagine if it was Renault who was the new kid on the block back then, they would of quit the sport within a few years.

I would be more interested in knowing the physical size of the battery? Is it regulated or only the weight? Using 'super capacitors' as part of 'battery' the charge can be almost instantaneous with a drain to slowly charge main battery which will increase it's lifespan. As carbon nanotube technology is progressing, 'super caps' can be more easily factored into the equation. 'Super caps' have been used for many years in city buses so there is a precedent (and probably why Tesla purchased the largest US super cap manufacturer in 2019) If Honda is supplying power units to red Bull, they are only partly removed so developments are not wasted.

Awesome video. It also shows how hybrid cars are a virtue signal and not actually eco-friendly. Lithium ion batteries are very heavy, take up lots of space, and get worn out very quickly. Essentially all we end up with is tonnes of toxic waste and not much to show for it. I love the concept of hybrid cars, but without better battery technology, it's all just a fancy experiment.
@MrMezmerized3 жыл бұрын
There are still some gains, given the fact that you can store and use freely generated energy. And while there is indeed toxic waste, I don't think it is (nearly) as bad as fracking, fuel spent on oil transportation, oil leaks and spillage, oil disasters, and... no wars have been waged (yet) over raw materials for batteries. Can't say the same with regards to oil. I agree though, there will only be significant changes with real upgrades. Let's see what happens in the next few years with solid state batteries and batteries with silicon anodes.

@@MrMezmerized Eh... they use some chemicals while minning lithium, wich they spill in rivers polluting that water forever, you just dont hear about it because doesn't fit with the eco virtue signaling
@MrMezmerized3 жыл бұрын
@@Ale-nv2bo You don't hear much about how much oil leaks out of pipes every single day either. Or how much gets lost with other transportation annually. Or how bad fracking is. Or how much waste refineries produce. Or how much fuel leaks away at gas stations annually. How many mining chemicals for one Deepwater Horizon disaster? For the burning Kuwaiti oil fields during the war there? How much pollution and how many lives lost in military conflicts where oil was at least partially a factor? I'm not saying chemical waste isn't a serious issue. I'm saying nothing comes even close to the pollution of everything related to oil / fuels. Except coal perhaps.

I didn't get just one thing, if someone can clarify this for me. So did Verstappen get the new battery and control electronics all the way back in Belgium or just now in Russia, hence the reason why they changed so many of his engine components? Cause if the latter is the case, then that would explain why he climbed all the way up to 7th in a track that doesn't suit their car and also be a huge sign of intend for the coming races.

Batteries will always give 100% capacity. It’s just that capacity falls over time and the hammering of an F1 car does it very quickly.
