Of all the Two Ronnies' musical routines this one in my view is by far the best.Brilliant lyrics matched to the marching tunes and superb choreography and performance. A lot of the credit for the overall effect I think belongs to the men in the chorus who play their supporting role flawlessly.

My father was in the Indian army, and I do enjoy the two Ronnies, but for me the rather fast singing for difficult to grap properly, inspite of that did ,understand the mention of roly- poly, rissoles, curry, kippers, chips, but they missed out Yorkshire pudding, which to me is the most confusing of English dishes being an Indian.
@dreadlindwyrm3 жыл бұрын
Yorkshire Pudding fills the role that breads do in most meals - it's a filling, cheap addition to the meal, and (if made correctly) can act as a bowl to contain the main portion of the meal. Essentially though, it's just a savory pancake that's been cooked deeper and with sides to it, rather than entirely flat.
@anuradhainamdar89673 жыл бұрын
@@dreadlindwyrm I did find out what actually Yorkshire pudding was from looking it up on Google video. My eldest nephew had gone Scotland and had phoned me saying he was in Scotland since I have read lots of English novels I said " try Yorkshire pudding " thinking it to be a dessert ( pudding) so he ordered some and found that it was meat ,so he curses me for asking me eat meat ha,ha,ha.

@@anuradhainamdar8967 Oh yeah, it's a savory thing usually eaten with meat and vegetables - like I say, roughly filling the space that a flatbread would in indian and middle-eastern cuisine. It's not an exact analogy of course, but it's something that catches native English out sometimes. :D
@dreadlindwyrm3 жыл бұрын
@@anuradhainamdar8967 It's a sweet dessert that's spread with jam, rolled up and baked or steamed as a whole. It's often served with custard, and was a staple of school dinners for quite a while because it's cheap and simple, and is a filling, hot, sweet dessert for winter time.
