Air Jordan 1 High OG Black Toe Reimagined

The history dump here is sweet validation for folks like me who aren't oldheads, but are really fascinated by sneaker history, and love this pair. I'm most likely not picking them up, but these were executed damn near perfectly. The only downsides are the insoles, and that these aren't an 85 release.

Fax since 85s usually are for samples that werent made. But also you should pick em up imo if you dont have black toes and these are technically the original. Also yea nike should make polyurthane insoles the standard and not the awful dreamcell for not only jordan 1s but all 1-14 upgrade the insoles so these can be transitioned to lifestyle wear fully.

Salvadoran sneakerhead here: First of all, thank you for giving Pupusas love! I’ve seen you highlight them in your IG stories before and messaged you about it. You a real one for that! As a salvi, I would never say pupusas are part of Mexican cuisine and I think Mexicans would agree, but pupusas do have shared ancestry with indigenous Mexican culture. Not to get too nerdy about it, BUT, pupusas were originated by the Pipil, a sub tribe of the Nahua which was an ethnic group that made its way to Central America from Mexico. So, if you go far back enough, there is a shared history. The pupusas you enjoy today, though, solidly Salvadoran. And it is the one dish I could eat for the rest of my life and never get tired of it.

Developer Boring’s custom of the aged black toe killed these. DB’s actually look more authentically 85’ than these as far as the last/shape.

That was probably my favorite question asked thus far. It was also nice that I had the same line of thinking: 2 of them had to be everyday staples (I would also pick both tacos and burritos) and the third one had to be a nice plated dish that you'd rather have someone else prepare for you. I was thinking enchiladas but pozole or chilaquiles are both better choices I didn't think of. These are important life questions!

Appreciate the shout out guys! This is a pair I want to double up on. The actual PE was shared to me by a friend of a friend of MJ. I couldn’t believe the details I saw. It was good enough to write and share about on Sole Collector/Complex nearly 10 years ago. Fast forward to today and it’s amazing that the retro comes to fruition. Like the Airship, it goes to show that the brand has eyes and ears everywhere! I love it! I’ll definitely have more to say when it releases. Side note: Tacos, burritos & carne asada fries (in that order). Next time we meet up we gotta grab some! 🫡😋

Definitely a double up on the Jordan 1 black toes. I still have both the 2013 and 2016 black toes deadstock. The black toes are my favorite Jordan 1's. Only need just one pair of the Jordan 3 black cement for the collection. Awesome video and review guys!👍

I think the fact that they used the Air Jordan txt on this pair is way cooler than the wings logo, even if the wings logo is cooler as a standard. I just got a Used worn 3 times 2016 pair off FB and i think its my new favorite J1 Colorway. Now I can have 2 pairs on ice so i can beat these 2016s! The reimagined look great as well. Its a great time to be a collector. While i cant sell a pair to pay for my personal, Ill take being able to cop 99% of what I want over taking an L and not even wanting the shoe cuz its too expensive every day of the week!

This is an exciting release in that it's something outside the normal aj1 release. It's nice that Jordan Brand is paying homage to their legacy/history. Man... Your question is so hard. As a Mexican I love just about everything, but I couldn't do without tamales, tacos, and pozole... Btw, if you ever get the chance to either make it or buy it, you gotta try green pozole, it's the best. And tamales, you can have sweet or savory... I love me some strawberry or pineapple tamales or tamales with whatever meat or cheese with green or red salsa... I just love tamales.

For those who don't want these cuz of that logo, keep that energy please! Besides, even if it doesn't use the '85 cut and tooling with the boardlast strobel, just put an insole with torsion support to at least replicate the feeling, I do wish they used the '85 tooling though I want these purely because black toes are my favorite, even over the Breds and Chicago's! A good blend for contrast, and I want these to be my first 1st AJ1s! Also, that tease of the Black Cement 3s, Chris! And... I don't like how you've mentioned the 3s possibly won't have a PU insole. Oh great. Still would cop though.

I remember dying/painting the tongue on my 2016 pair black just to match my OLNL pair. Although I wish the wings logo was still there, I’ll make sure to grab these as well since the black toe coloring on Jordan 1’s is my favorite of all of them. Also, if you guys find yourself in the greater LA area, try the Kogi Truck short ribs burritos and tacos. The Mexican/Korean fusion definitely heightens the taco/burrito eating experience. 3rd is a toss up between pozole soup, or anything birria (tacos/quesadillas, ramen, and/or pizza).

Having stories in some of the releases definitely hightens the experience of sneakers. On another note, because of your review, I got myself the 2024 denim high AJ 1s! Concerning the Air Tech Challenge 2 I have to say, it's ridiculous how quickly they were sold out (and then went directly to resale platforms at a premium).
