Weather Channel: Hurricane Matthew On Approach [2016]

I moved to Florida about 4 years ago from Chicago so hurricanes are new to me. The one thing I noticed right away, if a hurricane is predicted to hit the east coast of Florida, people on the gulf coast hardly give it a second thought. I live in SW Florida N of Naples 1/2 mile from the gulf beach and when Matthew came along, it was literally business as usual and nobody did anything or even cared what was going on. I was hit by Irma, as close to a direct hit as you can get and it was predicted to come thru here and every single person took this as serious as a heart attack. This area was a ghost town and it was hurricane ready when Irma hit. Floridians do not scare easily and they don't leave until the last minute. They have gone thru so many of these that its just something that happens and when it does, it sucks and then tomorrow it's back to business. I love it down here. Irma was my first and I was ready, but in reality it wasn't that big a deal for me. im sure it could have been worse, but I didn't do anything special. I will definitely say tho, it is better to be safe than sorry. Prepare and leave if you have to.

Technical Toxicity Katrina was actually the most Impactful Hurricane but Dorian had the Strongest winds in The Atlantic Basin History

The evacuation urging reminds me of Katrina. They told to evacuate evacuate, but so many people were used to it, they just stayed. So happy people listened better here.

Actually, the reason people were telling everyone to get out is because of Haiti. The poorest country suffered 546 deaths and the disease continued because of Matthew, killing millions
