I've been a pretty accomplished guitar shredder for decades, but I gave up playing and started using guitar plugin VSTs because I'm too lazy to plug my axe in and deal with tuning issues and knobs and pedals when I'm still going to end up in the box for mixing the song. Only downside I'll admit to is that midi guitars are a pretty not-fun workflow compared to real guitars.

Maybe Fender doesn’t care so much but Gibson comes after anyone making Les Paul clones, and they usually win.
@juanchotpee23 күн бұрын
@@TheFBK69just had a quick read about it. Copied this from a conversation people were having about it. Fender was denied trademarks on their body shapes because they waited too long to try to assert trademark. Fender headstock shapes are trademarked however. This is why you see so many T- and S-style guitars that look exactly like Fenders except for the headstock. It’s a different story with Gibson, where both body shapes and headstock shape trademarks have been more vigorously defended by the company going back a longer time.

It seems TE's reason (or excuse) was that Florian had used part of their promo video, which was basically an ad, in his video. Normally, people are over the moon to get their ads shown for free, even if it's only a clip. In this case they saw his video as a negative review and use that "reason" to try to get rid of it. FTE.

Is it ethical to buy or sell a Les Paul or Fender clone? Most "clones" are made to appeal to buyers with less capital and I don't think music making tools should only be available to the wealthy. I sympathize with Linn to an extent (and I can't stand Uli either) but he seemed pretty cool with Akai still borrowing a lot from his old ideas for their new MPCs (he's posted videos of him demoing new MPCs this year and it seems he's been financially compensated). What I thought was more telling about what Linn said in his statement that I don't think this vid brings up was something to the effect of "I'd rather not work with Behringer due to some of their recent questionable business ethics issues.". He'll take a lil' kickback from a company he has history with and that has largely maintained its respectable status in the music making community, but he knows if he took that Uli money to give it his blessing some of that negative sentiment surrounding Behringer might come his way. He's no dummy and still has some integrity.

The plugin isn't feature complete yet, but the core functionality is there. You pay less money similar to an intro sale, but it's mainly about getting feedback for final touches before the full release. It's a good way to get feedback from customers before the product is finalised, and you get it significantly cheaper. There's still a trial available if you think the idea is stupid though.
