Wait, what! They make a diesel stove? That's great, the "one fuel" idea. That smooth cook top looks nice, too. I'm thinking, the possibilities are almost unlimited... Umm, do they make a diesel toilet? Oh, hey! My binge watching has finally gotten me to the year 2021 in your videos! -Burt in NJ

It does look nice! I thought we’d never get it started... I’ve never installed anything like this before! But alas! We have a cooktop! At this point if they made a diesel toilet I’d put one in!

They make a diesel combination air and water heater as well. A couple brands available but they all seem to be clones of one another.

No diesel toilet but we have an incinerating toilet! If you want heat and hot water check out Bobil Vans. We have their system and its brilliant. Heatx water either via our diesel heater or excess solar.

I have had the Webasto Cooktop in my Trakka Sprinter campervan (Australia) for over 10 years although I use the Truma system for my heating and hot water and both units use diesel , and I also tow my Stabicraft trailerboat which also uses the Webasto for cooking and heating

Thanks for the video. I am in the process of removing all propane from a 36 foot diesel pusher. Going to install something similar to an Aquahot for heat and hot water. I have a residential fridge and was looking at a induction cooktop and then saw your video. What I think would be needed in reviews is the total elapse time from when you you decide you need caffeine to when the water boils. You said something like 15 minutes? That is bad. Also what we need to know is over time of use how stinky is this thing. I worry about complaints from neighbors in a campground if I am running a bunch of diesel powered devices. So do a follow up on this.
@WanderfulRevolution
@WanderfulRevolution 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! It took about 15 minutes but this was our first start up. We really haven’t trialed it more than that, as we aren’t living in the van yet. We will definitely put some more accurate times to it when we start using it more. We didn’t notice any smell to it when we did use it, but we’d be happy to do an update video! Thanks for the suggestion!

Morning, I hooked up my stove top and heater using a T off of the stock auxiliary line at the tank. Same as you have planned, is your heater in yet? Have you found that your heater takes all the fuel from the lines and drains the stove line? I am just trouble shooting this problem now but I believe this is what is happening to mine.
@WanderfulRevolution
@WanderfulRevolution 3 жыл бұрын
We did get our heater in! We primed the heater line first and then primed the stove line with the heater running. We haven’t had any problems. However we still haven’t used them extensively, as we are still finishing the build. If you continue to have problems, perhaps place a one way check valve on the stove side so that the heater can’t pull the diesel out of the stove line. Best of luck!

How is your stove holding up? I have had mine since 2019 and the only problem I have had is it occasionally shuts itself off. It will always start up again and work fine. The only thing I have been able to come up with is it does it when my fuel tank is less than half full.

@WanderfulRevolution
@WanderfulRevolution 3 жыл бұрын
The webasto stove isn’t intended to be used as a heater. Wallas makes a stove with a blower for heat if you are looking for something that does both.
@caseycook738
@caseycook738 3 жыл бұрын
Do you think this could also be used as a interior heater for your van too? I have seen the Wallas Duo with almost the exact cooktop but they have a cover and the unit can be used as a heater. Maybe add a stove fan? Thoughts?
@WanderfulRevolution
@WanderfulRevolution 3 жыл бұрын
So I looked this up because I’m not really sure! In the webasto installation manual it states that the cooktop is not intended to be a heater. I’m not sure if there is a big difference in how this is built in comparison to the wallas. Definitely would be cool if it could be used as a heater as well. Have you seen anything out there that is just the fan portion for stoves?

Hmmmm, I dunno seems like it takes way to long to heat water. What didn't you go for induction?
@WanderfulRevolution
@WanderfulRevolution 3 жыл бұрын
We just feel like induction uses a lot of power. We also wanted to keep our system primarily 12VDC. We will definitely do some more thorough testing on the stove and share it once our build is done and we start using it regularly.

Hello, good morning, after this time, how does the glass-ceramic work, do you advise it, is it worth it or not?
@WanderfulRevolution
@WanderfulRevolution 3 жыл бұрын
So far it’s working pretty well for us! In comparison to induction cooktops, the diesel takes longer to heat up and cool down, so it can be a little slower to get started. But the upside is that it takes very little energy to operate so we really appreciate that! Overall we are happy with it

Hi there folks, I am not sure what your reasons are for not going the induction cooktop route as you do have the inverter for this usage, as with the diesel heated stove the surface area stays hotter for a long period of time vers the induction cooktop - it is only hot once you set a pot or kettle on top but cool to the touch with your actual hand.
@WanderfulRevolution
@WanderfulRevolution 3 жыл бұрын
We really wanted to have a one fuel van that was as energy efficient as possible. We felt that induction would use up a lot of battery and since we plane to be off grid a lot we wanted to be able to conserve as much electricity as possible. The diesel cooktop use very little electricity and very little diesel to operate. With that being said, we definitely agree with the points you made. It takes a while to heat up and cool down. Would we change it if we did it all over again? Maybe. In the near future we definitely plan on doing a follow up video with our thoughts, once we’ve used it a little more.

No we haven’t tried. The manual states it’s not intended for heating spaces. Although it seems overall it is similar to the Wallas, with the exception of a fan. We have an espar heater, but it would be interesting to know if anyone uses this to heat the van as well.

So you need 3 minutes to turn it on and then you need more than 15 minutes to get water boiling ! It’s almost 20 minutes for a cup of tea ?! So 2 hours cooking ! And you can’t turn off one of them ... so this is not a good thing to instal in a camper... with gaz I can use it for 3 months ! That is more than enough ;)
@WanderfulRevolution
@WanderfulRevolution 3 жыл бұрын
This was our first startup of the unit so we will definitely have to take a closer look at the cooking times when we start to really use it. Even if it takes 15 minute we are ok with it. We just aren’t in a hurry. We also don’t mind the warmer plate. We plan to heat out water while prepping breakfast and then keep it warm on the warmer while cooking food. We just like the idea of only having to worry about one fuel source. Glad yours is working great for you. There are definitely a lot of ways to do this van life thing. Safe travels.
@grainderiz_aventure8296

I would definitely have one like this if it was faster because as you say, it’s much better not to worry for several fuel sources but with a child, things must be done fast ;) and if we want to toast bread or do popcorn it definitely won’t work with this ! I just hope they will improve!! Anyway thank you for your feed back it is very instructive!!
