Great video! One pro tip I found on the interwebs... I routed the intake back to inside... That way you are heating already warm air from inside the RV instead of cold (potentially frozen) outside air. Makes a huge difference in fuel usage.
@OutOfThisVan9 ай бұрын
Wow never thought of that. Thanks for the tip!
@questioner15967 ай бұрын
The outside air intake is for your combustion air, and the manual on my Webasto says clearly not to take this air from the passenger compartment. It would create an interior vacuum, pulling in outside (cold) air from every crack in the van to fill what is lost out the exhaust pipe, so it wouldn't actually save fuel. There is a separate air intake inside the cab that takes the interior air to reheat. It's sized for the ductwork and this should be kept indoors.

On the subject of the mice in the van. I put dryer sheets in different places under the van and around the engine compartment to keep the little critters at bay. I assume they don't like the smell or they get the idea humans are in the area. Had some in the engine compartment of our Mini and since the sheets are in, haven't seen any evidence of mice. Inexpensive and worth a try.
@OutOfThisVan2 жыл бұрын
We’ve heard that works well for many people! Luckily we haven’t run into any more mice recently but in areas where they’re more common, we sprinkle some cayenne pepper around the tires and that seems to do the trick.

Narrowed down heating option to Webasto because of the existing fuel port on the Promasters. A couple of new things learned in this video: 1. Heat shield removal was not necessary (thank goodness) 2. To add extra height, use wood piece before adapter plate. Smart!! Thank you and happy travels!

This video has really helped me with our install, thank you!! One question - did your kit come with a foam piece that sits below the metal mounting plate? The reason I ask is because I didn't see it anywhere in your video and this might have given you the extra height you needed to clear that bar behind the seat.
@OutOfThisVan2 жыл бұрын
Interesting! Yea, I don't think ours came with that. Hopefully they are making better kits by now.

Great video and looking forward to doing the same. Quick question - was there a reason why no fuel filter was added to the inflow to the fuel pump?

No reason other than it didn’t come with our kit. We would add it if it did. (Even though we’ve read stories about the filters clogging) Luckily we haven’t had any issues with our heater yet. We do have it in high altitude mode which we recommend if you’re planning on being at high elevation ever.

GASOLINE RIGHT? NOT DIESEL...........RIGHT? Ps....... The reason they made that plate out of metal and not out of plastic or wood is because that exhaust pipe gets damn near glowing red right near the unit right exactly where you have that one I realize this is a year after you made this video but in case you smell woodburning occasionally that could be why❤️🇺🇸

@@msmargiek48 it should be working with a 15 and 1 assuming the fuses are working properly. Since I wired mine into my fuse box I’m not sure what f1 and f2 are but the 15 should be for the heater so the power line should go into that fuse first. You could probably try both larger amp fuses for a test but I’m not a electrician so I can’t guarantee it wouldn’t mess up the digital controller.

This will require stripping wires and a twist on wire connector but if you want to make sure power is getting to the controller and the heater I would try hooking both into a single 15 amp fuse on the fuse box just to verify they are both receiving power. If the remote doesn’t show any signs of life then It’s probably faulty.
