Possibly the easiest and safest way is to use the Webasto to heat a tank of water and then use another pump to run as a shower.
Using an STC-1000 to switch the Webasto on and off at a set temperature and the cheapest travel shower you can find on eBay.

Using 30L and 30oC increase in temp works out to around 1.05KWhr of energy in 15 minutes...means the webasto is actually delivering 4.2KW...if you allow a minute or so to start working properly and take into account the overshoot, it's looking like the webasto is actually 5KW. Pretty cool David.

Yes! It does say 5KW so that's pretty close considering its age. :)

On my boat merry Fisher 655 I've installed a 230v 1500w Chinese 10l water heater. Connected to a suitcase 4-stroke generator plus normal thermostatically controlled mixer. Running from the deck wash pump with a 200l water storage bag. With a 4L a minute restrictor and a water saving shower head. I can have a constant 37° shower for 50 minutes it's amazing.

Hi this is what i use for my window cleaning same setup. Heat water to 65 70 degrees 320 litre tank its insulated once heated i can then have hot water all day only drops 1 degree every hour in the tank. In the morning if i have any left its still at 40 to 48 degrees so then its really easy to heat it back up again to full temperature. When i fill my tank as its filling i heat it at the same time its brilliant

Hi David it’s John just an idea I no you like messing with a kinds of stuff with the chines heaters I’ve seen a gadget that switches power from one source of power like a 12v reducer connected to mains power to a 12v battery the only thing is it takes a couple of seconds to switch would this be enough to keep the heater going rather than it shutting down if there was a power cut I would like to know your thoughts on this if you’ve got time this is the gadget ( Keenso Power Supply Battery Controller, Emergency Automatic Switch Module DC 12V 24V 36V 48V 10A for Emergency Battery Switching ) thanks stay safe in these unusual times regards John

That is a Webasto Thermotop Z. They use an external pump that wires into the Webasto controller. Water from 60L tank. Apart from the +ve and -ve main connections the only other is the +ve trigger wire that I had switched by the thermostat.

Could you do an experiment of the webasto hooked up to a small oil cooler / car radiator / heat exchanger or something, with a fan to use as a small heating system? I'm wondering if I could fit one into my truck as the original use as a block heater, but with the supplementary use of heating inside the truck, via the idea mentioned above, plumbed into the cooling system, when the engine is off. Powered via a leisure battery.
@DavidMcLuckie
@DavidMcLuckie 3 жыл бұрын
You could plumb it into the trucks cooling system and then just use the existing heater matrix in the cab and power it's fan with 12V.

Can I ask which wires you attached the thermostat controller to?
@DavidMcLuckie
@DavidMcLuckie 3 жыл бұрын
Just using the 12V trigger wire. When the water reaches the desired temperature the thermostat clicks off removing the 12V trigger and the heater enters shutdown.

Hi guys, the idea is great👍, and I really dont wanna piss on ya cornflakes,. BUT, this is an accident waiting to happen, the reason your cylinder at home is hot to about 65 degrees plus, is to kill all the nasty stuff that loves to live in 38 to 50 ish degrees Celsius. Having a tank of water at 40 ish degrees is going to bad for someone. SORRY.
@DavidMcLuckie

That's a very good point actually. One I had completely forgotten about. You'd have to sterilise it regularly either by heat or chemically.

@@jamiemarquiss6065 Not if you use a smaller tank that would hold up just enough water for one shower and heat up the water to 40 degrees and use it up in about 15 minutes. There would be no time for any bacteria to grow and there would be no water left either for any bacteria to grow. Would you agree or am I missing something?
