Nice, previous home owner left a Genesis Gold grille when we bought our home. I have put a few hundred dollars into new parts and have repainted over the last 5 years. Truly feel that the 20+ year old grille is as good or better than any new offerings.
@GallaghersGrub Жыл бұрын
It is, no doubt. I recently purchased a used Weber Spirit 3-burner, and sold it to buy this one. This just seems like a better grill all around. And I love the look as well.

Sad thing is when the owner of Weber passed away and his kids sold the company, they rewrote the spec on all the metals. I Lover the older units they will go for years and years

Thank you for posting this I live in Massachusetts and I actually own a Weber Genesis 1st edition 1985 my dad purchased when I was only 12 years old (I'm now 51) and the grill still looks brand new. Granted I take car of is and replace parts occasionally but after almost 4 decades of New England winters it has stood the test of time. They don't make things like they use to!

Hey Justin! Great to hear from you. If I was more handy, I'd probably restore one myself. The handle seems like the only tricky part. They guy I got this one from is a carpenter by trade, so I'm not sure how the heck he made the handle. He did a great job, and I can't wait to see how yours comes out.
@BabyBackManiac Жыл бұрын
@@GallaghersGrub Fortunately I am not a carpenter so whatever I come up with for a handle is bound to be a lot funnier looking that that beautiful one you ended up with. lol.

I have this same one - only it is the natural gas model not propane. Am in the process of giving it a good cleaning and I have to change the burner tubes since the cross tube broke. I bought mine in 1999 so its 25 years old now. Looked at some new ones and decided to keep my old one. Got some new flavorizer bars as well. Will be just like brand new when I'm done.

Just two months back I picked up a Redhead 1989 genesis II from its original owner in excellent condition as he stored it in the garage when not in use. Very similar to your 1000 only it has one additional shelf to the right hand side of the burner knobs. I’m currently…slowly working to restore the wood slats. Once fully restored I too doubt I’ll cook too much on it. Maybe a special occasion steak here and there! Really enjoy your videos…keep on grilling.

Nice grill....I thought I would politely add some corrections. The hood handle is plastic in your case and the burners do rub left to right and not front to back. Minor stuff but since I restore these as well I just had to mention it.

I've been bragging about my 2000 Genesis Gold C. It was a great grill! Then I found a 1998 Genesis 1000 that appeared to be used one time. Bought it at the local auction house for $37. I replaced the regulator for one that had an Atlas nut. This has replaced the 2000 model since it is in like new condition.

You can find them used and beat up for $25. Most people do that and restore them themselves. I bought this fully restored from a great guy who does this with his grandkids. I paid a premium because I like the guy and I like the work he does. I feel it was worth it. It comes down to how much you think it's worth. It's like having a fully restored Trans-am in your garage.
