Thank you so much! I ordered the kit on your site and it worked perfectly. I have exactly that same grill so I was able to follow the instructions step-by-step as I watched the video. My husband was shocked when the very first time I turned it on it lit like a brand new grill! It took me a total of an hour and a half, and would’ve been less except for those pesky screws. Thank you for the comment about the back screws not really achieving anything because I could only take one of them out. But as you said they really are more like a brace. So for about $55 plus an hour and a half I saved us over $600 or more on a new grill!

Unfortunately, I can't remove the screws of the burners because they don't have a real head anymore, they are rusted. Poor quality.

Funny I found this video today. A neighbor a few blocks away left a 2 burner (E210) out at the curb. The guts were mostly gone, no grates, flavor bars, no drip tray and the burner tubes were partially rusted through. Ordered those parts from Amazon. I cleaned it up inside with some oven cleaner, left it to soak overnight, then hit it with the pressure washer. I paint-corrected the door and lid, then ceramic coated it. I removed the thermometer and Weber emblem, polished those up, too. It looks almost totally new and cost about $110 total to get working. The igniter wasn't functioning but that turned out to be a missing battery. We've cooked on it the past 3 nights and it has been flawless. This is a $450 grill so it's the neighbor's loss, I guess...

Put the grates in a garbage bag, spray them with oven cleaner. Let them sit in the sun for a day, then scrub with Scott pad and now you have clean grates

Great video. I’ve cleaned those grates using vinegar, baking soda & dish soap. Let them soak for 2 hours then use a scrubber or a new wire brush attachment at the end of a drill.
@matthewlewis5631 Жыл бұрын
You would be better off skipping the baking soda. When you mix it and vinegar together they react so it looks like it’s doing something, but it’s just neutralizing the vinegar making it pretty pointless. Baking soda mixed into a slurry with water is good as a mild abrasive and deodorizer, but mixed with an acid (which vinegar is) is just a waste of both component.

I’ll try it next time w/o the baking soda. Thankfully, haven’t needed to deep clean as I keep up after each use. Another idea I want to try is using a pressure washer.

Nice video! From my experience, I would never want stainless steel grates -- they will rust just as fast as if they were carbon steel. I give the cast iron grates on my Spirit grill a quick scrub with a piece of Scotch Bright pad before I cook, and they're good to go.

Also worth upgrading to steel in the grates , the porecelin coated ones go bad after 2 years but you can call Weber and get free replacement with in 2 years on them and the flavorizer bars and burners. I got them but decided to just go all steel for grill, flavor isles and warming rack.

Cleaning grill plates: Warm the plates for a few minutes, then spray with straight vinegar. Allow to soak for several minutes. Ball up a fair size wad of aluminum foil and rub the grates like it was a scrubber. It scrapes all surfaces, including between the rungs. Do both sides and they look like new.👍

Just a bit of advice. Run a bead of clear silicone along the bottom seem on the outside and inside cabinet where the lags attach to the bottom shelf. This grill has a tendency to rust there. Because water gets in the seem. Even with the cover (Weber cover) I found the rain will bounce back from the deck or patio. I have had mine since 2012 and had to replace the bottom once. But that’s the only down fall to this grill. I am a Weber fan for life.

I did the exact same thing a few years ago, but it was a Genesis 300 that my neighbor left out. Everything is working great now, minus the igniter. The assembly is in a little metal box, and it’s completely rusted to the grill body. I tried and tried, but couldn’t get it off. I just use a long stick lighter to light the thing.

@handydadtv8 ай бұрын
I don’t think there’s enough room to remove the burners without retracting the valves, which is done from the front.
@joerutkowsky32615 ай бұрын
No you don’t have to take the front panel off Just undo the back bolts on the burners may have to use vice grip on them they get covered in cunk. Then you can slide the back small ignition burner out from the left and right burner. And lift and slide them out and the middle one will do the same. So easy.
