What light do you use on your searwood? I just bought my searwood 2 weeks ago, thanks to you and Bob always having a blast cooking. Your videos are always so clutch. Cheers!

Thanks! Really appreciate the positive feedback. Congrats on the new searwood! Here’s the grill light I use: acehardware.dttq.net/c/5607677/1762913/9988?prodsku=8083950&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.acehardware.com%2Fp%2F8083950%3Fx429%3Dtrue%26Dlocally%26Daffiliate%26Daffiliate&intsrc=APIG_13695

Love the vid. I’ve been considering getting this insert for my 600 XL. Curious where you plan to store this wile not being used? Was it difficult to clean?

Thanks brother! It's definitely worth it if you don't want to deal with having yet another grill (e.g., blackstone) taking up space on your patio/deck. The burgers are excellent. We've also used it to sear steaks and they come out very nice. Just checked and it's on sale on amazon from $219 to $199. amzn.to/45ZafLJ. (It says it's for the Spirit 300 gas grill, but this is the one also compatible with the Searwood.) Not sure if weber.com has it for sale or not. Storage is an issue because we have the rotisserie, rotisserie baskets, the sear grate, the griddle, and of course the stock grates -- all going back and forth depending on the cook. Right now we're just putting them in a big cardboard box in the garage when not in use, but currently looking at options for a cost-effective deck box that goes with the outdoor furniture. Cleaning is easy. Heat it up on the Searwood, scrape away any leftover food into the grease/ash pan, add a bit of water and let it steam, scrape again, add a bit of oil and wipe it into the flat top, empty the grease/ash pan. For a deeper clean, take it off and wash with soap and water (nothing too abrasive).

It’s looks awesome! Since u have another pack, I wonder how it would be if u put a couple of the already smashed ones on the grill ? Just an fyi . Ps- that’s the only way to eat a burger when you use good meat, meat, cheese, bun !

Thanks brother! I'm not sure I follow when you said "pull a couple already smashed ones on the grill." You mean, smash a burger, cook it, then put it on the grill grates?

@@TBH-Grillin Too many beers brother, lol. I was just saying because you ran out of room on the griddle, after you have smashed the burgers put some on the grates and the they would just cook like a regular bbq ? Just a thought.

Weren’t you guys supposed to season it first? I have the exact same insert and it needed to be seasoned prior to cooking on it
@TBH-Grillin

Luckily no, this is from Weber: “This cooktop is transformed under extreme heat and pressure that case hardens and bonds the surface, reducing the ability for moisture to collect and rust to form. Then it’s pre-seasoned with food-safe oils that condition the metal for an extra boost of rust resistance and a natural, easy-release cooking surface that makes it ready to use right out of the box. No use of coatings means it’s safe for metal tools. Simply remove your existing grates, place the griddle into the grill and enjoy making smashed burgers, bacon, eggs, fajitas, and stir-fries.”

What's is really good is season up the beef and then make them in to the balls for the smashed burgers and smoke them on top shelf about 1 to 1 1/2hr on top rack on low as it will go. Just want to get smoke flavor without cooking the meat much. Then pull them off, and then you make smoked smashed burgers. Brings a whole new level to smashed burgers.

So it’s fine to scrape all that grease off into the smoker?
@TBH-Grillin
@TBH-Grillin 4 ай бұрын
Yes, it goes down into the grease catch at the bottom of the rig. Just make sure beforehand that there's not a ton of gunk already down there to create a grease cake that could cause a flare up at high temps.
