I want to know why as a spouse, I only get half of my husband's pension? We were married for 41 years . I raised our children while he was working for the federal government for 30 years and he died while still employed. And we were married when my husband went into the army and served in the national guard. Why am I only getting half of the pension? I put in my time, taking care of our children and my husband so he could do his job and serve our country. And when my husband started working for ins in 1993, he worked 7 days on one day off rotating schedule until the 5th week and he got three days off. And there was mandatory overtime. It's bad enough when he joined the ins the retirement benefits were much higher and the Obama administration changed the retirement giving employees less benefits, but the backdated it to people who started the job after 1992. Even though it wasn't introduced and enacted until after 2012. I don't think that's right. To back date it like that and change it like that to people. And I should be entitled to my husband's full benefits. He was not retired when he died.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation and understand your frustrations regarding the survivor annuity benefits. Unfortunately, the OPM dictates the rules for these benefits and we have no say in survivor annuity amounts.
