Speaker:
Ms. Jenelle Babb, Regional Advisor on Education for Health and Well-being, UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok
Health and relationships education aims to equip children and young people with knowledge, skills, attitudes and values that empower them to realize their health, well-being and dignity; consider how their choices affect themselves and others; develop respectful and enjoyable relationships.
This all will not happen, if children and young people are not deeply engaged in what they discuss in the classroom, do not perceive it relevant to their own life, and the life of their peers and communities, and if they do not experience feelings and emotions that would encourage them to apply the learning.
Therefore, teachers are increasingly looking for solutions that will help make their lessons more interesting, exciting, vibrant, and at the same time accurate, informative and stimulating reflection and discussion.
This is the second webinar where educators, health promoters, school health workers and other interested actors will learn about digital tools that have impacted the way the health and relationships education (with a particular focus on sexual and reproductive health and rights) is delivered and experienced by young people in different parts of the world.
Speakers from AMAZE Project, UNESCO regional office in Bangkok and UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education will talk about:
The variety of digital tools and ICT-powered solutions for non-formal and classroom-based health, relationships and sexuality education; their advantages and limitations.
How the power of animation is used to support the delivery of formal and non-formal education and awareness-raising about health and relationships to and among adolescents and young people.
The ingredients of success for high impact digital solutions for health and relationships education reaching large and diverse audiences and sustainability factors of digital edutainment project.
