Quick Tutorial - Creating 360 Views With WebRotate 360 SpotEditor v3

Hi! When using both low-res and high-res, the dimensions of low-res just need to be such that the images fit nicely in your viewer box on a web page. This allows having small / crisp images on page load as you resize / sharpen them upfront. High-res driven mostly by the amount of detail you would like to show on zoom and the image byte size. But we recommend to stay within your average visitor's screen resolution that you can get from your web logs. The example is ~ 450x300 and 1800 x 1200.

The thing that I'm wondering about is how do I set up the config.xml file? I assume that that's the file that tells the viewer what to do how to spin, where the hot spots are etc....

Unfortunately, free version of this app doesn't work on Mac. I followed the tutorial but wasn't able to load the images at all - got error from the beginning - didn't even got the option to save the project in the folder i like...you probably have to pay for the app if you like to have a working version...

Hi there, thanks and apologies for our late reply... It's due to Chrome's local machine security restrictions which doesn't affect how it works when loading 360 views online. Please go to our blog (linked above) and search for chrome using the search field on the right. The first post (Local testing...) talks about a quick workaround for your local testing.

Hi Dave, the images are not actually embedded into swf that you probably tried to open on its own - imagerotator.swf is just a player that loads images dynamically according to xml configuration created by the tool in the video.

You can checkout our user guide (it's one of the links on the download page above) - the guide goes through each available xml setting. And then it would probably work best if you use an existing sample in the download and add / edit xml settings per the doc as needed.

I got it to work on Bigcommerce using blueprint installation. However, the image thumbnails under the 360 photo are no longer clickable. I like the 360 photo up first but I also have additional images/graphics that I want displayed. Is there a fix for this?

So it doesn't show it in the SpotEditor but after publishing it it does there, so one just has to use minimum of 7 rows and at minimum of 36 images?

You can use any number of rows and/or images per row.. and recent versions of SpotEditor allow switching between the rows inside the software (either via arrow buttons in the toolbar at the top or under Images->Rows tab - it's done 'manually' such that the app doesn't consume too much RAM as we keep images loaded into computer memory for instant processing).

Most of the social media networks such as Facebook and Pinterest don't allow third-party scripts (such as ours) in the timeline so the best option right now is to use animated GIFs that our software can also create. The animated GIFs are not interactive though. Flash mode (that utilizes the swf) is not being actively supported as there's not much demand for it due to the lack of Apple / iOS support, and is going to be discontinued in the upcoming release of the 360 viewer.
