Unless I'm attending a wedding that specifies an "all-white" dress code, out of respect to the bride, I would never wear white, cream, or pale nude (ESPECIALLY not in any fabric resembling lace or satin). It may seem "old-fashioned", but some weddings ARE extremely traditional.The closest I would come, would be to wear a soft rose/blush/blue/lilac/grey, etc. However, I DO love a beautiful black gown/jumpsuit/LBD/pantsuit for an evening wedding. I think black is always an elegant choice. It's also important to find out what colors to avoid if you're attending an ethnic wedding; outside of America, red & gold are often bridal colors.

Wearing black is also extremely disrespectful. It’s respectful for funerals but for a wedding it is also said to set a negative start to the marriage. So it’s not just about what you “think” is appropriate it’s about etiquette.

I avoid white completely. Some people say to even avoid brighter colors. I say avoid white and the bridal party color and you are good to go. You are right about how some people think differently with how to dress for black tie or even semi formal. I got married back in August and I couldn't believe the amount of people who in my opinion were a little underdressed. I didn't feel the need to put a dress code because my invitations I felt sent the message that it's a little more on the formal side. Most dressed more formal but I still had a good chunk of people underdressed. I really didn't care how my guests dressed just no white. But I personally would have been more formal if I was a guest to my wedding. I think nowadays people don't dress up as much to weddings. I always look up the venue and take cues from the invitation if there is no dress code on the invitations.

I love hearing how our cultures are different. I'm old fashioned so I never wear white to a wedding ceremony regardless it's long or short. However, generally it is acceptable for ppl to wear short white dresses. Having said that, the wedding dinner is usually a different story because the bride usually wears an evening gown or traditional outfit. I have worn white for wedding dinners where I know the bride will be wearing traditional because I know there's no way I could be viewed as disrespectful or trying to upstage the bride as traditional outfits are in bright colours like red or pink. My bridesmaid asked me if she could change into a white dress for my wedding dinner and I had no issues with it. So she wore white at the dinner.

Really enjoyed the video, can be quite difficult to know what to wear to a wedding. In Europe, we don’t have lulu’s, would be amazing if you could do this again with European stores (mango, Zara, H&M etc) but totally fine if you don’t want to do it again!

It always seem to end up wearing a floral day dress for the day ceremony and feel wierd wearing a day dress to an evening dinner or vice versa. The navy lace one and the black dress is probably the onlys that suits both.

Wow! In US wedding dresses are so simple where i’m from in Balkan Europe everyone wears over the top dresses some of them are tacky in a bad way. I’m most likely to wear some gold or Red to weddings since i look the best in those colours. I usually have my formal dresses custommade since i usually don’t like anything in stores like they’re either too tacky for me or too simple I did wore white to a wedding but i was like 10 and the bride suggested me and my sister to wear white or baby pink or nude princess dresses
