Great tips Sam and I hope to join you on one of your courses in the future. I think in the early days of shooting weddings, the brain can be full of 'what can go wrong' which, as you point out, creates a demeanor which spills over into how the client perceives you as your work. Checking your kit and having a timeline definitely helps with confidence as you know you're prepared, but I still always have some nerves when arriving at the venue. Just before I get out of the car I like to say to myself "I'm just here to document a party as best I can" and that seems to instantly clear my head of any anxiety or negative thoughts.

Some great pointers there, Sam. TBH, we could easily come up with at least 100 tips for shooting your first wedding. Two I'd add - drink loads of water and wear comfy shoes (ones that have been worn before the wedding), nothing worse than having uncomfortable shoes on a 8/ 10 hours wedding!

Thanks Sam, sound advice and extremely useful. I am shooting my very first wedding at the end of May. To say I’m a tad nervous would be an understatement. Out of your six very useful tips, I would say I’ve shorted four and a half 😅 I intend working up to the full six very soon! Glad I found you now and not in June😂 Cheers Phil
