I always love to watch Canadian/US wedding shoots like this. Here in Bulgaria it's all about Flashes, and pre-determent shots, like it's a fashion photoshoot for a front cover of Cosmopolitan. It's very strange, since we use the most amount of gear, but we take (tipicaly) the least amount of money per wedding (poor country). The photographers I work with (I am a video shooter) are always carrying 2x AD600's, 2x AD200's and 2x V1's, and not a single shot is taken without a flash.. so much hustle honestly feels like it takes the enjoyment of the wedding away.. Lightstands, and softboxes left and right, and a constant flash of light in your eye everyfew seconds..

I just shot my first wedding in the same lighting situations and about the same size room and it was so stressful. The lighting was perfect until the ceremony started and then the sun came out and there was so much bad shading and lighting and it didn't stop until it was over. Thankfully I got to fix a lot of my shots by taking photos of the couple /family and some of the same positions as they were in the ceremony. Boy though it was not my idea of a first wedding shoot 🤣

A quick.question ..how many pictures do you shoot the whole wedding..?? Roughly and how many pictures are given to the client for final selection..and are they seperately selected for print on album and how many nos?
@TaylorJacksonPhoto2 жыл бұрын
I just deliver a final gallery of about 500-700 images for a wedding day. Maybe 300-400 if it’s a shorter day. They don’t select anything and I also don’t print anything for clients unless it’s something large format that they want done properly
@cleretfernandes59722 жыл бұрын
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto that's fair enough .. perfect and I say that's professional delivery. From where i come ..beleive me there are photographers who shoot 3000- 6000 images which I don't know for what . Thats the whole day. And the selection they give their client is 350 -400 pics . I feel that's an eyewash and portray a foolish stunt to impress the client or the other trial the photographer perhaps isn't sure what he is shooting. .i think that outrageous..!!

I was with a new frined that does weeding for 10+ years and it ask me if i only use the 35 all day, and i say yes and i love it. He is with the zoom 80%. My first weddings were in the late 80s using Pentax 6x7 for portraits and a couple of Canon F1 bodies for everything else. At the end of a job, I felt as if I'd run a marathon. Now I'm 56. With so many under my belt, they're kind of easy now to me, and I'm doing my best work ever. I avoid the big weddings nowadays. I like the nice, small weddings like this one. And where I used to hate specular light and would use supplementals to try and defeat it, modern cameras and software can provide easy solutions. I do far fewer than I used to do, however, because I always enjoyed specializing in high-quality wedding day (and pre-wedding day) studio-style portraits... something nobody gives a flip about these days. I most enjoyed couples who elected for dramatic, classic bw Hollywood (Hurrell, Bull, Jones, etc) portraits, with fresnel lights, gobos, and dramatic posing. I'm hoping that interest in that sort of stuff comes back one day. (Printed albums, too.) Thanks for sharing the BTS look. It's nice to see how younger people are doing it these days.

@liamgoodvisuals2 жыл бұрын
Hey Alexis! I do actually own the 50 1.2 and the 50 1.8 and I use them both all the time :) I almost always shoot the 50 at 1.2, especially for photo, but when I’m shooting video I often do 1.8 or F2 just to get a touch more context in my video shot. Otherwise, I absolutely LOVE how 1.2 renders images and peoples skin tones etc. The 50 1.8 usually stays in my car as a backup, and sometimes I use it as a lightweight alternative to the heavy Nikon 50 1.2. But mainly, the 1.8 is so beaten up that I can’t sell it hahaha

No, lenses get sharper when stopped down. So a 50 1.2 at 1.8 has much better quality than a 50 1.8 wide open

try the sun in Sicily if you want the real hard light nightmare. You have to master light and shadow in a creative way. Or try to come in little towns in Italy to see how hard is to shoot in shitty crappy houses with small rooms and a lot of mess. Italy is a beatiful country, but Tuscany and Amalfi are only 1% of what you see outside. Sometimes you guys do not realize that you have giants spaces, large venues, cool furnitures... you can literally have the best light and environment scenarios and use them with comfort. The real challenge is to have some cool ideas in places where you have no space, or good light.
