Mine is November 2020 luckily my venue hasn’t made us switch dates yet (it in NH) but the idea of having to do that is daunting. I had to put inserts in my invites telling guests that they’ll be notified if the date changes. I’m so sorry that you had to change Ariel (and anyone else for that matter)

Item number 12 literally brought tears to my eyes! I got engaged on March 15th (right before everything shut down here in California) and, even though I'm not someone who needed to postpone a planned wedding, it's still SO hard to start planning anything right now. We wanted to get married this year, but it's definitely not going to happen until next spring. I feel so lost, like I should be productive, but I can't be. It just feels sad that something so exciting has a damper on it for the time being. I know things will get better and this isn't the end of the world by ANY means, but it's still sad right now. I haven't even been able to see our families in person and celebrate our engagement, and that was over 2 months ago. THANK YOU for making this video - I've been waiting for it and it was super helpful! Also, sometimes, we just need the permission to not do anything and that be ok. One thing I have been able to do is put together "Bridesmaid Proposal Boxes" and I'll be mailing them soon! I'm really happy about that!

My bridesmaids cards were a huge deal for me, and I loved making them! 💕 Congratulations! We got engaged nearly a year ago, were hoping for an October wedding, but that's not happening. Everything is on hold until we feel safer bringing everyone together. Sending positive thoughts your way!

@@jadehershey thank you!! I'm sorry about your wedding too! 😔 We ended up deciding to have our wedding next April and just keep it to immediate family. We don't want to risk having to cancel if things aren't much better than they are now. It's such a challenging time to plan anything. ❤️

Seriously, same here. I’m so glad that “Nothing” is a part of the list. Like you, I feel like I should be productive as well but I honestly don’t know how to be because it’s not necessarily a safe time to be visiting stores/vendors. My fiancé feels we should put a hold on planning because how can we plan for a date we don’t even know we’re going to keep? It’s been frustrating and it’s a breath of fresh air to know that it’s ok to be doing nothing right now. This also affected my plans for the “bridesmaid proposals” as I had planned to gather the girls together and ask but again, not the best idea to be gathering in groups right now. So I’ve decided to meet each one individually and ask casually for now. Maybe when things get better I’ll find a time to gather everyone and ask formally.
@christinadipinto6109
@christinadipinto6109 4 жыл бұрын
@@lilynichol7 I completely get that. The good news is that there are some things that you can do now that you don't need a wedding date for! You can start a Pinterest Board, research what kinds of wedding dresses you want to try on, research the style of photographer you are interested in and bookmark the ones you want to reach out to eventually, make a mood board for the colors and decor you like..... so many things. I would start saving all of the things you love and then once you have a date nailed down, you can go through it and delete anything that doesn't apply anymore. If you don't have a date, the majority of things you can do now involve research. Personally, I went through MANY phases of research and, while I didn't end of using about 50% of that research because we opted to do a very small family-only wedding instead of a big one, the other 50% of research was VERY helpful. Also, depending on where you live and your personal preference, there may be some bridal shops that will let you make an appointment to try on dresses. The ones in my area limit the number of people you can bring, but I plan to Zoom with my mom and sisters so they can still be part of it. I'll also be recording that zoom call so I can watch it later! I hope that was helpful! I know it's hard, but don't stress too much - it will all come together! Just remember the wedding will be exciting and beautiful, but the marriage is what's most important. That brings me to my last piece of advice: you could consider doing pre-marital counseling now via a video call. Wishing you all the best!!

Hey Jamie! I've been watching your videos since I started planning my wedding last year. I love and appreciate your help! As an October 2020 bride that has decided to still get married no matter what, I am having trouble figuring out how to juggle planning both the normal wedding (should it be allowed to happen) AND the contingency plans (50 people at the same venue, 10 people in the backyard?). I keep searching and scouring the internet for suggestions and advice but everything is geared toward postponements/cancellations. I know it's a lot to ask but I think a lot of brides would be overwhelmingly grateful for some words of wisdom about how to STILL have your wedding for those brides that are on the cusp between lockdown and non-lockdown For example, wording your invite to allude to the possibility of an in person wedding OR a virtual one, what to do when you decide to cut the guest list in anticipation of having to limit gatherings only for those limits to be lifted before your wedding (i.e. we cut our list and plans down to 50 people but if we are allowed to have over 100, I know extra people are going to ask if they are now allowed to come). Etc. I love you, I really hope you read this and consider doing a video. I'm so lost and I'm sure other brides are as well!

@@HappyInTheHome405 thank you! I hope the very same for you Something to consider that might work for your wedding. My fiance and I were heartbroken by the thought of not getting to see certain people due to a limited guest count, so we are doing a "shift" wedding! Basically, our older family and close friends will arrive for the ceremony (which will be love streamed as well) as the "first wave." They will stay for the traditional dinner and first dance then they can leave at 7pm, which is when our lower risk cousins and and friends will arrive as the "second wave." This way, the number of people in the venue at any one time is much lower but we still get to see everyone. It feels so natural as our family will want to see the ceremony and our friends will want to party. It might work for you too

I just got engaged in January of 2021 I have started planning what I can till we can set a date so we can have a big wedding. I have started to stock the thrift stores and dollar stores to DIY’s and decor for our wedding so I can keep it classy bun inexpensive. Like a lot of COVID brides to be I have been out of work for about half of the pandemic and can’t afford a really expensive wedding so I had a little bit at a time. I have already ordered a beautiful dress from jjshouse and already received it. I have ordered veils, bridal party jewelry and favours from wish as I have time for it to be mailed to me. And started DIY hoop flower boutiques 🥳

Love all the tips! I'm still moving forward with my 10/23/20 wedding as of now since Ohio is permitting weddings of up to 300 with social distancing. I scored my dress online from BHLDN from their sale section marked down from $2000 to $450! Their dresses run pretty much true to size or 1 size small at most and they have a 30 day return policy :) Its not quite my dream dress, but I think with alterations it can come close and this pandemic has put A LOT into perspective that the world is much bigger than I am.

We got engaged in January and are, as of now, planning an August 2021 wedding. Our families are from different states so we are at about 50% out of town guests. That, combined with my knowledge of pandemics that stems from a public health education, makes me worry our wedding won’t be able to happen safely then. BUT we did our venue search all online and picked one! It can be done! (And if you want a summer date, you might have to, depending on where you live and your risk tolerance.) I’m still very excited about it, and excited to dive into these other ideas!

My rainbow is I paid for Day of Event Planners they worked things out (easy-peasy) with vendors. I have also invested $1200 in decorations from wedding trellis, etc to all the reception decor (needless to say, my craft room is now busting at the seams). I may have paid for a day of event planner - a blessing (includes 2 people)... but you’re videos have helped me keep on point (as event planners only want to talk to bride/groom). Thank you so much Jamie!! Our wedding date is 8.1.2020 and our state just opened up receptions up to 300 people with social distancing. We had most of our things done but are waiting for tux places to open so we can find something for our guys. My fiancé doesn’t really want to not wear tuxes, but I am trying to get him to be open to whatever options we can get at that point. Our wedding website has been such a life saver for us for guests who have questions. You are SO right on the guest info. We are planning on going on as planned but don’t expect everyone to attend. 🤷🏼‍♀️ We totally understand if people don’t want to come but other life circumstances made it super hard to move our date.

I was so lucky that we had planed most odf the wedding before the Lock down. I used the time and made my DIYs and sent the invitations. I am happy that I am living in Austria since marrying is allowed since about a month or so. Because of that my wedding is likely to take place on Halloween this year. To all other brides and grooms to be I would like to say: "Hang in there, keep a positive thinking and do try to stay healthy - you will get the wedding of your dreams, even if you'll have to wait a little longer. The wedding is not the goal, a happy marriage with the person you love the most is."

We were a Jun 2020 wedding now Nov 2020. We've actually found a lot fun in hatching plans B, C and D, it's forced us to be creative and agile. Our next milestone is 1st June, we will find out if we can get married with just our parents. If we can't, we'll build a fort, crack open a bottle of wine, crawl inside and modify plans C and D!

Mine was cancelled because of covid & my venue took my £4000. I am now in the process of suing them, which is scary & upsetting. They have refused to mediate, so our court date is going through soon. If you could do a video about this, that would be great. So many brides don’t know their rights when contracts are frustrated or breached. I was not going to take it lying down & my partner who is training as a lawyer has been so strong, guiding us both through this. Even though I won’t be getting married or having a wedding day now, I still feel like this court process is actually becoming a part of a lot of 2020 brides’ planning processes...almost the final stage & conclusion of the planning, because it has to be very well thought out & executed in order to claim your money back.

We're doing the small elopement in June, and the full wedding next summer. Literally all I've done is stand in my in-laws backyard and point to where I want people. 2.5 weeks left and all I want to think about is how I have a full year to finish planning my wedding. So absolutely thank you for that last point. Had we been doing the full wedding in 2 weeks I'd be screwed lmao. I've had... zero desire to plan. There's no way TO plan when everything changes day to day, week to week.

Wow! We have the same wedding date! Our original plan was to do 100-150 people. But with this going on we had to reduce that to do our main family only, so about 25 people total. And I made some invites for everyone else for a online streaming ceremony. I'm sad I wasn't able to do the big wedding I wanted but the important thing is marrying your best friend right?

So new question for you...we did our wedding still this year but limited to immediate family only and postponed our large reception to next year. (assuming it will happen) Obviously we missed out on doing a lot of the usual things you do at a traditional reception and things I didn't think I wanted I found myself wishing we had done. I was wondering what the top traditions from receptions you thought were the ones that meant the most to people. Getting the chance to replan our reception, I'm hoping to make sure we do it right and catch things that will really make us have fun and remember it.

I’m getting married on September 12th, and I have almost no options to postpone, since if we want to get married in the next 2 years at our venue (and not forfeit the $10k we’ve put into it), we’d have to get married on a Wednesday or Thursday, since our venue is such a popular one. It’s so tough to plan when you have no idea what your guest count is going to be! I’m about to enter Pre-Wedding Crunch Time and I feel like I have my hands tied. This video was really helpful!

This was actually one of the first (and only) things I've done! I went through With Joy, and everything was really simple. It's all private since we don't have a date yet, but the guest list is in it and the theme looks good. Plus, I was able to really get the hang of how to use it. I'm just going to add stuff as I go.

Yes!!! I made a Google sites, which was pretty easy, but months later I realized it wasn't listed on Google! There was a long and difficult process to get it listed and it still wasn't there. (Meanwhile, a draft of a website on another platform ended up online! Ugh.) If I had to do it again I would have used Wix or something that lists your website automatically.

As a professional event planner with several events this year, I've been asking that question since March. I feel ya!! LOL Basically, I'm planning 2 types of events (in-person & virtual) for each event. I wholeheartedly agree with research. Here in my area, RVA Weddings has conducted webinars/FB live sessions with different vendor categories (i.e. planners, photographers, venues). Some of your questions could be answered during sessions like these. Great video!

This was super helpful! We just got engaged in April, so I feel like all we've accomplished is finishing out guest list. It's so hard without a date. We can't see venues, and they've been totally closed so no one is available to answer emails yet. I've been doing a lot of online research. I did purchase The Master Plan back when it was on sale, so I've been going through that. The wedding stuff has been a nice break.

Thanks for this list though Jamie, didn't know about the generation tux! All of his family is coming from out of state and we were having a hard time going through the logistics of that. Birdy Grey was there for all my girls though! Highly recommend! Our DJ reached out to us in early May and had a skype meeting (planned pre-COVID)! Our wedding is 4.24.21 and music is something we were able to check off. I would add one section or you could roll it under "research", but we've just started looking in to and trying out cocktails for our wedding. We are feeling VERY productive with those! :)
