THIS ALMOST HAPPENED at my Cousin’s wedding. It was a Halloween wedding (they literally said their “I Do’s” at midnight on Halloween. I was a bridesmaid and as we were getting ready, the MOB decided to sage the wedding dress to get rid of any bad juju around getting married on Halloween. She identified the highest point that she could hang the dress on, which was this little cage thing that was placed around the fire sprinkler! She then proceeded to light this sage bundle that looked like a giant rolled blunt the width of my arm and starts waving it over the dress. My other aunt TACKLED the MOB, grabbed the sage from her, threw it in the sink and soaked it, then moved the dress and we all grabbed whatever we could to fan the smoke away from the smoke alarm. We were in an old historic estate house so the damages would have been $$$$$$$ if we had flooded the place. Such an insane night.

I know she didn’t say it in this video but I’d love, “pour some grace on the situation” as merch or wall art!! With “Grace” spilling out of the container such as a juice container or bag of sugar!

Hairstylist here if this happened at an event I am working at the things I would be concerned with are my tools that are probably pulled into a wall and bridal party hair. First things first unplug everything and hope my equipment is not fried and after cooling down and drying off my equipment the next thing would be to dry everyone’s hair cause let me tell you even drying my own hair takes a long time and depending on who got soaked and how much hair that person has it could take a very long time.

This is a tough one but I'm not certain someone should have to lose their career over a very stupid mistake. Definitely needs to pay for everything and hopefully she doesn't attempt to argue otherwise

I think whether I’d name and drag the planner would have a lot to do with how they reacted afterwards. If they seems remorseful and paid for everything (+ some extra for the stress), I’d probably let it go and hope they learned a lesson. However, if they tried blame shifting ti avoid paying, then I’d definitely put them on blast.

I would be worried that everyone would have to shower and replace their dresses, not just dry themselves and the garments. We recently had fire safety training at work, and the instructor said that you do not want to get caught under the sprinklers unless they are saving your life because the water stays stagnant for an entire calendar year before they are checked and flushed out for the next year. That water is going to be potentially full of bacteria and stink really bad.

This reminds me of a time when i was in high school. A boy in the grade below me brought a slingshot from home. One of his friends dared him to hit the fire sprinkler. The boy took the dare... But honestly did not think he would hit it. Cue water spraying everywhere in the common space and getting into open lockers and a whole hallway being shut down for like a week.

I wonder how the planner handled this. They just colossaly messed up, and even if it wasn't there doing they would need to fix things and keep the wedding going, but I feel like it's even more there job to fix this because they cause it.

I have to know what the planner was thinking when she thought doing that was a good idea. I feel that the planner should cover the costs for the damage but if the planner refuses to do it (cause you never know they would want to save their own reputation than fix what happened) then the bride should at least take them to small claims court for the damages

That wedding planner is the reason why there are labels next to the fire sprinklers to not put hangers there
@candicewaller403

That truly sucks, but it happens. The wedding planner definitely doesn't deserve to be flamed for life over it. A party got delayed and some stuff got damaged. It's not that big a deal in the grand scheme of things. Especially if everyone was appropriately compensated.

Whether it's right to name and shame them to me depends on if they pay up. If not, then yeah it may be appropriate to go a little further than just one negative review.

The amount of ppl willing to throw stones when they themselves live in glass houses is amazing. Intentions matter… and accountability matters… if they didn’t mean to do it and hold themselves accountable then we should move forward. Lessons learned… also I know this is a big day but really in the greater picture it actually isn’t much… when ppl talk about their past very rarely do ppl make comments about their weddings unless something eventful happened. So for most ur “big day” is just that unless something makes it memorable

The review a 100% depends on how the planner handles it. If she doesn’t address it, doesn’t pay and is difficult yes cancel culture is warranted. If there’s an apology, communication and helps than that’s totally different. Accidents happen but at least they have a good character/Conscious
@christinadasilva5580
@christinadasilva5580 Ай бұрын
If the makeup artist and photographer were there as well, shouldn't one of the them at least strongly advise the wedding planner not to do this? Agreed that the planner is responsible for the damage and needs to compensate not only the bride, but the MUA and photographer as well. Great Video Jamie! I always look forward to seeing your latest video every week! :)

People thinking this planner’s ENTIRE CAREER should be ruined for this make me incredibly sad. Just thinking logically, how can one pay back all these damages if they aren’t making money?

I would 100% sue!!! Everyone should have common sense to not do this. Dresses, makeup, hotel room, etc add up to a ton of costs!!! Plus needing a new get ready room, dress, makeup, etc would also cost a ton!

Can we get back to actual wedding planning advice? It seems like the majority of the videos these days are from Reddit threads or AITA threads. Don’t get me wrong, it is entertaining and I like these, but I am also planning my wedding and would like to get back to actual wedding planning content. 🙏

@@jordansutherland183 Thank you! I feel less alone now! I Love you, Jaime, but I have been spending a lot of time rewatching old (4+yr old) videos because they are more helpful for actually planning my wedding. Even more Q&A-style videos would be more helpful than Reddit threads right now.
