To be fair, I feel like the road goes both ways. I have had wedding planner tell me for a wedding that was full planning they never charge more than $2200 for a wedding like ours...then the "estimate" comes back as $3400.....soooooo that didn't go over to well. This industry is built on a history of lying to brides and inflating prices

Very helpful! I just have a question: I feel like I am good at planning most details but I just want some design advice, like color of the linens and runners, and what dish wares and silverwares will go well with my table settings, and how to arrange the items I rent from rental company in a pretty way. I don’t think I need the typical full service which handles everything for me. But I want some help in design in addition to DoC service. I am curious usually who is doing wedding design work? The rental company (I mean something like lounge furniture), or florists, or a role like “wedding design”? So many thanks to your videos and really love to see some thoughts on wedding design!

Hi Emma, there are some planners that offer both planning and design like myself. If you are doing your wedding on your own and would like to hire a designer to help with this process, planners can help you with that by charging an a la carte service instead of full, partial, or managing it the day of. If you are wanting advice and insight without paying I would highly recommend joined a local bride Facebook group and share pictures of your overall vision. :) They're a really great resource to adding in their opinion.

More Monkey please! Also to note: at some point it is too late to keep making changes with your vendors. I'm a wedding entertainer and had an occasion where I was already en route to the venue when I got a phone call asking if I could change the music (ie: creating a completely different set) and send it to them in a different file format from what had been agreed on earlier. Since I was already in the car, I didn't have the computer equipment with me I would have needed to change file formats, let alone the time to create a whole different set from the one we'd already agreed on.
@notjessaplanner4 жыл бұрын
I'm not a lawyer, but I would recommend to add a section in your contract that states X amount of days prior to the date of event no changes can be made to the music list. OR this will result in an additional fee. It would be unfair for you to put in so much time and effort in creating a music list then have to do it all again, but with a huge time constraint. Hope that makes sense. :)

Jamie!! Question. Im having a destination wedding. I paid for FULL SERVICE destination wedding planning with my planner which included communication with all vendors, day of, access to online planning etc. Due to covid pandemic, my planner has been out of office and in the meantime I had to book half of my vendors on my own which is part of what I am paying her for. I don't want to be rude but I feel like I shouldn't have to pay the full amount because I did half of the biggest part of the work with communicating and setting dates and contracts with vendors. Should I just let it go? I don't want to make things awkward! But I just feel like I did not get what I paid LOTS of money for. heelppp

What's the best way to address issues with a vendor? To make a long story short, we had to do the engagement photoshoot in two parts. We were told we'd get a preview of the photos one week after and then have all the photos in a month. It's been the full month and we haven't seen any photos. I have no idea how much things cost to know about a budget. My venue says 1,000-3,000 on their website and they’re my parents’ friends / neighbors and it’s an all-inclusive venue. I have a lot of friends who are photographers and deejays because I used to be a competitive ballroom dancer and a singer. I have a friend who bakes and decorates like Cake Boss. My grandmother is a seamstress and tailor. I know quite a few pastors. I know and have several friends who sing and play instruments. I want to give people I know business, but it might be rude to pick one person and not others. It also might make things cheaper. I don’t want to invite more than 40 people. I think I can do a small budget, but I have no idea how much things cost. Is a cake $100 or $1,000? I don’t know.

She takes forever to get anything to me, she will say I'll send this to you tonight then I have to message her two days later asking where it is. My wedding is in less than 3 months and I don't have all my vendors booked yet so I am stressing and she is just frustrating me with how unprofessional she is being. @holleybede2154 жыл бұрын
We’re doing the same thing. Our venue is letting us send them the signature cocktail recipes and they’ll be mixing them for us and serving but, basically, when signature cocktails run out, they run out. We just told our venue how much we could put towards signature cocktails so they’ll make as much as they can with what we are able to afford. Good luck!! I hope that helps some. It’s impossible to make everyone happy, we can only do so much with already having to pay for so much.

I love that idea of having mock-tails. You can create a menu so they can see their options. This actually saves you so much money as opposed to having alcohol and sometimes less is more. If you give guests so many options sometimes it makes things complicated. Great thinking!

And please, PLEASE let your potential vendors know if you’ve decided against going with them, especially if they’ve got the date reserved for you. As a professional wedding violinist, I cannot count how many times I’ve been ghosted by a bride or groom after we’ve communicated about what they want and have sent the contract. I understand if you don’t want to go with me. I’m not for everyone, and I don’t fit everyone’s dream or budget. I promise, as a professional, I will understand. Just please don’t ghost us.

PLEASE HELP! Hello! I really need your input because I don’t know what to do. I signed my contract with my venue and read it through. They only say on the contract that vendors must present their insurance. It doesn’t mention any other restrictions. I also asked the planner that was helping me book the venue if there were any restrictions on who I can hire as a vendor and he said they just have to be insured and licensed. Now the venue sales person finally contacted me after a week. By now I’ve already hired my DJ and photographer. She told me that I had to use their preferred vendors list. If I bring an outside vendor they have to approve of them (understandable) and I have to pay a $300 fee for each outside vendor. But that wasn’t in the contract! I don’t want to pay an extra $600 for no reason when I’m trying to save money where I can. What do I do?
@christieho27974 жыл бұрын
