On my wedding day (21yrs ago) my mother gave me the best advice... no one knows what I have planned so don't stress when something doesn't go the way I want it to. We had several little things go wrong but no one knew. So now, that's the same advice I give to others who are about to get married. You looked beautiful and everything looked fabulous. It doesn't matter if the flowers don't match, the dresses don't look right all that matters is at the end of the day your husband and wife. I'm getting married July 13th this year and I am trying to live by his words. He's right and so are you none of that matters. What matters is your husband and wife and you get to life your life out with the one you have chosen.

Congratulations to you and Colton, your such a beautiful couple and compliment each other perfectly. We had a outdoor wedding on the river at my Sisters home with 30 lanterns that my sweet Brother- in-law ran around trying to keep lit as it poured so hard the tent collapsed. We still laugh and smile about that special day and even our young nephews said it was the best wedding they have been too. I’m from a big fun family and they made sure no big rain storm was going to ruin our special day. I pray you and Colton will be as happy as me and husband have been and that your blessed abundantly! I would never have an outdoor wedding, because you can't really predict the weather. Our wedding , in 1989, was in May, in New Hampshire (even though we lived in California, but the most family lived in NH) and the weather turned out to be terrible. But every part of the wedding weekend was inside, except for getting to and from the church. Thankfully , it only rained when everyone was inside. The reception was at a beautiful hotel, and that is where we spent our first night together. The entire day was amazing. Congratulations Sara !

As you know, a knot that becomes wet is extremely hard to untie - therefore, when you “tie the knot” on a rainy day, your marriage is supposedly just as hard to unravel - Hindu tradition says. My hair person melted plastic from the comb in my hair and it took two other hairdressers at the salon to get the plastic out and it did burn some of my hair off. My Sons wedding was in a different Time zone and the preacher was late. And a hair dresser didn’t show up so my daughter and another girl did all the bridesmaids hair.

Sara Jane... you were a beautiful bride! Colton was a gorgeous groom! As for the rain... when I was married in July 1988, it had not rained for weeks to where there was an actual drought. The day we married, it was hot, humid, and miserable. We were married in a church, BUT as soon as we exited the church, it poured cats and dogs! I mean, Mother Nature must have saved all the rain for my wedding day. Guess what?! Rain on your wedding day is a GOOD OMEN; HAVE BEEN married now for 36 YEARS! Wow. What I just watched was the most beautiful thing I ever saw! Kudos to you for staying calm through all the glitches. The same thing happened to my daughter. For some reason nothing would go right for her event from day one till it was all over. But she kept her poise and most people never knew there had been any problems. I think it was easier for her to recover from the disappointments and be able to see it through her guests eyes. You did a great job and everything looked so, so beautiful and special.

Congratulations to you both!!! I'm glad you can look back and appreciate the good, the bad, and those gone rogue. These will be the things you laugh about as time goes on . . . "remember when . . . ." I could so relate to your comments about sleeves and cleavage. Luckily mom was a proficient seamstress and made new sleeves for the wedding dress and made adjustments on the too low "V" neckline. When I tried it on after those alterations it was exactly how I wanted it in my minds eye and I didn't think twice about either issues after that. I loved the idea of all the close members giving their speeches at the rehearsal dinner and the pre-wedding photos. Almost 40 years later and I can still recall overhearing some say they waited forever to get to the meal, even though we had appetizers available while they were waiting for us to have our photos taken. The personal and close to your heart items you added to your bouquet was a thoughtful remembrance of those unable to be with you on such a special day in your life. It's unique to only you and will always be a part of your memory of that day. I also think you both looked very happy, beautiful & handsome and I'm sure the photos will be stunning.
