Everyone thinks the sprinklers referenced Blade but Wednesday mentions pig blood, which is a reference to Carrie. Could be both, given that Stephen King’s book and the movie adaptation came out in the 70s and it’s been established that Wednesday is into older/retro pop culture and not into more modern stuff.

I think it's a general problem here and there in the show. The scenes, interactions, and dialogue are so tightly written that it stands out like a sore thumb when something comes across as rushed or forced. We got so much build up for Enid's date and the incident when he stones himself and she's hurt and angry is presented like another setup for something big. Also, Wednesday's threat/style of support that she'd hurt him if he hurt Enid. In episode 4, the fallout not only falls flat, it's missing completely and we skip to building up the revenge and reconciliation. And again, those phases of the conflict are tightly written, witty, engaging, and fit well into each other. It's just one gear missing and it feels like there should have been at least one scene, if not two, that were cut. One short scene showing Enid and Wednesday and Enid stopping her from emptying a bottle of flesh-eating bacteria in Ajax' pants or something like that (Wednesday is not someone who makes nailgun-threats just to be polite), and one where Enid and Ajax either fight and we SEE that he makes excuses and/or doesn't give a straight answer, or how he tries to approach her and apologize but she ignores him. That would already have been enough to avoid this "Wait, did I skip a scene/episode?!" feeling (which I had, too, and it happened again towards the end, with the Nightshade club (keeping it vague to avoid spoilers for comment readers)).

There are a lot of moments removed from reality. There are several in the next episode that were driving me crazy. I had to let it go and suspend my disbelief. I’m pretty sure the target demo is teens. As a teen I would not have noticed the inconsistencies with real life.
