I always been a fan of the Addams Family since the 90s movies, had a crush on Christina Ricci (I think her and I were around the same age when the movies came out). And Wednesday is one of my favorite characters, so watching this series is a given.

I loved the show overall and feel it is, for the most part, one of the best shows that have come out in a long time. My favorite part of the show was the expansion of the universe the Addams family lives in. Giving them powers and having other people with powers. having a whole outcast society. I am hoping if there is a season 2 that the show will show us more of what the other kids in the school can do.

I`m just relieved that you mentioned Melissa Hunter`s ADULT WEDNESDAY ADDAMS series. So many ignore this, because of the Addams Foundation`s problem with it. As far as I`m concerned, that is just as `canon` as the Christina Ricci version.

I like how badass, Wednesday is. The writers stay true to the original character with cool added touches. I like how they designed her character to be so beautiful and gothic yet mysterious, spooky, and kooky. I guarantee you that all baby girls born next year will be named, Wednesday because of this show. The name will become a craze like the baby, Renesmee name from the Twilight movies. I hope this show continues to a point where we get to see Wednesday grown up into adulthood and becoming a Sherlock Holmes type detective solving supernatural crimes.

I wouldn't say older, she just had a growing up bit between the original series 2' tall child and the mid teen one seen now, though like his dad, Pugsley seems to be lacking that though give him a few more years and we'll see what happens when puberty goes full. Also, given that it says W has perfect grades, she may well have skipped a grade or even two. Come to think about it, see she and Pugsley much more than a year apart? Sure, in the B&W he's bigger AT THAT particular time in their adolescence. It is natural that change would happen. Also, how old is she supposed to be in the show? We see a birthday party so was she 15 and now 16?

That character in it's latest interpretation, is quite an odd one. On one hand she embodies everything to hate about a typical "mary sue" and made me almost turn it off instinctively. On the other hand the show indeed did portrait her handicapped by that, in having a normal social live n make her huge skillset resulting in a very antisocial personality the very thing to overcome. Still they should find a better balance, maybebut it certainly is a tricky task without ruining her character in the other direction. After all i ended up enjoying to binge the season once. It's very nicely crafted overall. What took me out a few times, tho' was the too cartoonish face of the hyde. The serious tone, his horror was presented, enough to even freak wednesday out massively, just didn't match up with every faceshot of him causing me to giggle. It had a lil' bit of the feeling u get in mcu movies whean a certain level of seriousness n emotional weight routinely is followed by a flat, cheap joke, like it needs to be defused for whatever reason.

She didn't display any "Merry Sue" traits, it's just people saying she's one because they don't understand what and when the term is used and can't differentiate between "Merrysuing" and stylization. Also as apparently main issue dudes have is "she can beat up bullies no issue", this tells me they aren't familiar with Addams family character, because Gomez, Fester and Wednesday always knew how to fight, in fact Gomez is avid fence sword practitioner and is often seen sword fighting with Fester (for fun). Wednesday apparently also picked up some skill since she's 3-4 years older then her last iteration (Christina Ricci)

The series isn't that bad. But the new Wednesday, even though this may sound strange, is almost too pretty. So in comparison, to all the other previous versions of her. Oh yeah; and this weird academy reminds of those failed attempts to copy Harry Potter again (Percy Jackson, that weird Disney movie with the sucky kid that nobody liked...). But otherwise it's quite good.
