I really love this show and i hope for a 2nd season! Jenna Ortega really does an amazong job. I'm afraid the one thing i'll have to critisize about though is her German in this scene. I am German and i watched the show in English, which i always do with american/ british shows, because i think it's just way better watching it in the language it was produced in. When it came to the German scene however i was a bit shocked that it was pretty bad...i mean if it weren't for the English subtitles i had turned on, i wouldn't really have been able to understand what she was even saying. And i don't want to bash her in any way, as i've already said, her acting performance was outstanding, but i just don't really get why they would let her do a scene in German (or any other foreign language for that matter), which wasn't really necessary, when the actress isn't familiar with the language and cannot provide a pronounciation that is at least recognizable. Of course people who don't speak German won't be bothered by it, but it's a show that is marketed internationally by Netflix, soooo....i don't know.... If Jenna has problems with the pronounciation, which is absolutely understandable, since German is not an easy language to learn, especially for Americans, i would've just left that scene out if i were them.

Of course her german won't be perfect because she's not german. That was the point. The whole Addams Family and this show is a satire.

@@cs-lp5qv Ja, wenn ich mich anstrenge, verstehe ich ihr Deutsch auch, aber man kann nicht wirklich bestreiten, dass ihre Aussprache ziemlich schlecht ist. Und das hat wie gesagt nichts damit zu tun die Schauspielerin runterzumachen, sondern einfach damit, dass ich finde sie hätten die Szene in diesem Fall weglassen sollen. Ich verstehe es, wenn sie nicht innerhalb kürzester Zeit lernen konnte die deutsche Aussprache richtig zu beherrschen, aber dann wie gesagt...lasst die Szene einfach weg. Aber ich bin eine Perfektionistin bei sowas und bin auch bei mir selbst und meiner Aussprache von englischen oder französischen Wörtern sehr pingelig...von daher vllt eine "unpopular opinion".^^

@@SDavid3388 Okay, so first i have to say that i think it's really unfortunate that you react so offended, when i clearly said that it has nothing to do with the actress herself or her acting, on the contrary, i explicitly said that her performance as Wednesday was outstanding. I also said that i think it's absolutely understandable if she has problems with the pronounciation, because the German language is quite difficult to learn. My point was that it wasn't really necessary for her to speak German in that scene and it would've been a better decision from the production team to leave the scene out in my opinion. And the next point is that you're really encouraging stereo types and generalizing here with your statement that "The Germans are bad at English and their pronounciation is terrible." Which might be true for some (mostly older Generations of) Germans, but most Germans go to great lengths to perfect their English in vocabulary, grammar AND pronounciation and are very strict with themselves when it comes to the correct pronounciations while talking English, which is also the case for me and all of my co-workers and friends. So better broaden your horizon a little bit and don't just blabb out (mainly false) stereotypes. And to add one more thing...i thought i have already made that quite clear in my first comment, but this is all just my personal opinion. For me personally the bad German of that scene took away from the otherwise really great episode and show. If that's an unpopular opinion, so be it.

As a cellist, there were still moments where you could tell the editors did not place footage in the right spots, but her technique didn’t look bad. Far better than most actors who try to act instrument playing

@@chunguschintamaneni2008 you can always tell (I’ve played piano, violin and oboe, so can recognise garbage when I see it), but this was much better than most. Holding a bow and vibrato take a long time to look natural and fluid. You can’t learn it in a week.

Amish and Pilgrims are two entirely different groups. Pilgrims came to America in the early 1600s, and the Amish didn't arrive until the mid 1700s. There are still Amish communities today, but no Pilgrim communities. Also Jenna Ortega did a scene early 9n where she didn't blink and Tim Burton loved it and asked her if she could do the whole thing that way. She did this all on her own without any artificial means or tricks.

Christina Ricci is not the original Wednesday Adams, she was the Wednesday in the 90's movie version, but there was a 2 season TV show in the 60's that cast Lisa Loring as the first live action Wednesday. There have also been some animated versions, old and new, as well as the comic strip that started it all... which is where the look of Gomez Adams in this take seems to have been inspired.

That snarky “Can you believe it?!” From Wednesday was actually Jenna ad-lobbing. There were certain lines in the script that Jenna sometimes found to be unlike Wednesday, so she asked director Tim Burton and he would usually allow her to substitute something else in and trusted her instinct.

Hey guys. I'm actually from Salem, MA. Here's a crazy theory that many historians widely accept. There was a late frost that winter (1692/1693) which caused a fungus called ergot to grow on the town's rye crops. Unbeknownst to the village, ingesting ergot produces side effects very similar to LSD. The "witches" bad behavior and the village's fear of the supernatural was due to the town tripping balls.😂 Everyone was back to normal after several weeks. With the exception of the 20 "witches" that were executed.

I’m a Brit and we didn’t learn too much about American history prior to the war of independence. So was it the puritans who burned the witches, or the pilgrims? Because somebody else on a comment thread mentioned that the pilgrims did not burn any ‘witches,’ it was the puritans (who came to the New World later) who burned them. Also, did they have different origins? Were the initial pioneers, the pilgrims, from the UK and the puritans the Protestants who came from Mainland Europe (Dutch, etc?)

If u look in the background on the window of the therapist's window when she is coming out the window say Miller and Gaugh realty. Also when wednesday make the witch comment after the lady tells her she is playing Fleetwood Mac . Stevie Nick's one of the leadsingers in Fleetwood Mac is a professed white witch. Which makes me think that's what the comment was put there for. Also cool heating Nothing Else matters by Metallica.
