From the first time they met, he made it clear to her that he couldn't be bought and turned down every attempt she made to bribe him. This is something that can't be ignored because all of Wednesday's interactions with people are based on transaction. Not necessarily monetary but on a tit-for-tat basis. Like how she says Enid can have her room back to herself if she shows her how to use her computer to call Tyler. But mostly this applies in terms of vengeance, on the basis of "if you do this to me, I'll do the same to you or much worse". Her rivalry with Bianca is a good example of this. So when Tyler didn't knuckle under and play into her transactional interaction, basically telling her "it's my way or no way", she wasn't expecting that and it intrigued her. To the point where she was always the one seeking him out, not the other way around. She was definitely ignoring all the warning signs, especially Xavier's who had every right to feel how he felt about Tyler. So she was clearly enamored with him. Did he manipulate her? Yes! But he could've only done so if there was something about her to manipulate. And that something was her feelings for him.

Besides, that is an example of her interactions with people being based on transaction. She's clearly not as toxic as she wants people to believe or else she wouldn't give a damn about either of them, and ultimately would have no friends at all. Does she carry toxic traits? Yes! A lot! But is she toxic herself? Not truly. She's more emotionally handicapped than toxic, which certainly warrants that therapist.
