Nicely done man! It feels compact and I agree with you regarding to the 15mm rods length, I use the 12” and they feel fine with my setup but keep in mind the fact that some bmpcc6k owners have reported getting their HDMI module fried because there’s some problem with the circuits of how the camera was built and it’s better practice to use an independent battery for your monitor. I use the ZILR battery series NP-F970 wich have a usb-c port so I can feed a wireless transmitter or wireless follow focus. It makes it a little bulkier because of that extra battery but better not taking chances on frying my HDMI module. This doesn’t happen with other cinema cameras by the way, it’s just the bmpcc6k Regards!

@TTPresents 3 жыл бұрын
I was waiting for this comment. This exact thing happened to me. Any BM6k build I see on youtube I cringe when I see the monitor powered by the same battery.
@YourMovieFix
@YourMovieFix 3 жыл бұрын
This DOES happen to other cinema cameras just as frequently as it does the BMD. Both HDMI and SDIs fry all the time on Reds and Arri because of poor practices/poor design on manufacturers. It only seems more frequent on BMD cameras because they are cheaper and thus more accessible. I agree to use a seperate battery though. No matter what brand you should just never hot swap batteries. I turn everything off any time I swap.

I don't have links, but my personal favorites from Edelkrone are their HeadOne with turntable black and white acrylic tops. And their slider, but there there might be better sliders out there. If you need professional sliders. I use Dana Dolly on client shoots. They are a much more stable, although its a bigger investment, they can accommodate so much more weight and give silky smooth shots. I end up renting those kits just for the day. The Edelkrone jib might be a good buy, however.

These cages get expensive fast. I was able to actually get the cage used which saved me $30 the base plate with the rod holders cost almost as much as the cage. two rods the the small clamps to hold the hdmi and c port cable. I'm glad I watched your video and showed the bottom for the SSD I almost bought that. and a side handle I was over $200. I'm use to just buying cheaper stuff for panasonic G models, but this is a great camera and want to take really good care and be able to get everything. This is what I can do for now especially since I just bought the camera so $$$ is tight but I needed something

Why do you screw a NATO rail onto the integrated NATO rail?
@bradpaulp
@bradpaulp 3 жыл бұрын
Interesting use of matte box. I was going to get that exact one but then saw how much ND filters cost for the rectangle one. The bmpcc of course has it built in but I would use the matte box also for my eos r when using that for video instead. Side note: I know you love small rig but have you checked out Titla? They have the Nucleus follow focus which is wireless. So you can attach the motor to the lens and the focus wheel can be mounted on a rail OR just handheld off the whole rig. :) makes for ease of use on slider or even have an assistant just pulling focus while you compose the shot. Cheers.

HI, great channel and thank you for the detailed explanation! Recently I bought 2 Anton Bauer Titon micro 150 v-mount batteries for my BM 6k Pro and I would like to ask if it's safe to power the camera and monitor from the same battery. I have read hundreds of issues frying the hdmi port on BM cameras by doing this. It was a construction flaw from BM. I don't know if it has been fixed with their new 6k Pro though. Are you aware of this and if yes, how do you proceed with the connections and the safety in mind. Best Regards

Would have been much more helpful if it wasn't simply a plug for smallrig. Did you use the monitor basically because you already had it and it fit with your entirely smallrig setup? You are the only person I've seen using one. The beauty of the pro is the bright tilt screen that is supposed to negate the need for an external monitor.

great video xDDD But I have still some questions as it's pretty hard to choose between the 6k and 6k pro haha. I've never had a video camera, so I'm somehow afraid that it will be too heavy with the Pocket 6k Pro (1.2 kg DJI Rs 2 stabilizer, 800g Sigma 18-35 mm, 1.2 kg Pocket 6k Pro, and another battery or SSD.) Do you think that could be the case? Especially when you e.g. film the whole day or when you travel and still have a drone. I also wonder if the 6k Pro's "tilting screen" is really necessary? (I filmed with the Gopro and the cell phone on a stabilizer and never really had any problems, even when I walked very close to the floor. Maybe it's different with the camera, as many 6k users said it is necessary). Buying one later would make less sense, as it costs more and is perhaps even more uncomfortable if you use the stabilizer and fix a "DJI 3D focus system" / microphone on the "head" of the camera. I've already looked a bit on the internet and apparently the 6k Pro fits on the RS 2, but it's not yet entirely clear to me whether that's really true. I have one last question then I say more than thank you; Do you actually need nd filters a lot in filmmaking? thxx
@kvPRODkws
@kvPRODkws 2 жыл бұрын
In my experience when filming with the 6k without the tilting screen you would need to buy a separate monitor for the top of the camera. With the 6k pro the tilting monitor makes low shots easier without having to buy a separate monitor.

I have a very basic question for you: whenever I mount my camera onto the tripod's hot shoe, the screw gets loose and it eventually begins rotating. Is there a way to prevent this? I don't use a full cage on my camera...do full cages have some sort of mechanism that prevents rotation? Thank you!
@ThermaltakeAustralia
@ThermaltakeAustralia 2 жыл бұрын
By hot-shoe do you mean base plate? Normally cameras only have one mounting hole/thread underneath them where you mount a baseplate. Over time, it's pretty common for them to come loose. If you get a good camera cage, and as long as you have a good tripod baseplate, it will have at least two mounting holes/threads on the base so you can then screw two scews into it to prevent twisting and it coming loose over time.
@nataliagarciaclark7162

@@ThermaltakeAustralia thanks for your reply. That's exactly what I meant. I have the camera, then a smallrig universal baseplate for the rods, and then my tripod baseplate. I tried attaching two screws, as you suggested, but I think there must be a part missing between the rod baseplate and the tripod baseplate, since the rod baseplate won't attach well with two screws.... thanks for the information

Can I fully control my 6K Pro with the Video Assist monitors? No one can give me a straight answer. Seems the only one I can find is the Portkeys BM5. Am I missing something? I already have the Small HD Focus 7 which is useless.
@deanolium
@deanolium 2 жыл бұрын
Not really; the monitors are simply to, well, monitor the video. However, they will have their own tools included (such as false color, zebra striping, guides, LUT emulation) so really the only things you need to control on your camera are things like ISO, shutter speed, the record button and the lens stuff. The other controls are really just stuff you shouldn't be touching much during a shoot, so covering the BMPCC's screen with a battery isn't a huge hassle. But the other advantage of having a monitor is that you can angle it so it's always visible and ergonomic no matter where the camera is. Or you could use a long cable/wifi to have other people monitor whilst you're shooting (for instance a director, an assistant doing follow focus, etc).
