Enjoying your videos man. I've been in mowing business full time since 2008 and started weed control and fertilization in 2012. We do both and also pest and termite. Me plus 3 year round employees. I'm really itching to get out of mowing and just do chemical applications. You're spot on with weed control being more profitable. It takes 1 man to bring in same money spraying as it does for a 3 man crew does mowing.

I'm at a pivotal moment, where I am going to have to focus full time on the weed control and fertilization business. I started mowing 10 years ago, and have branched out into landscaping and weed control. I've had as much as 120 mowing lawns per week with 2 crews. I like mowing but with constant problems with employees and expensive insurance for drivers has me at my wits end. I only have about 70 customers on the spray side of things, but I also do mosquito and yard pest treatments, which I like. I recently had 2 guys who have been trained for 2 years both quit on the same day, right at the onset of mowing season. I think I have lost the drive and desire to re-hire and train replacements. Something like this happens every year or two. I am at a position in my life where I do not want any employees anymore, and I want a spray route that I can do that generates the income I want and need. What did your transition into spraying look like? Did you keep several choice mowing customers to make ends meet until you got your spray list built up?

I pull weeds,low cost,easy to start,alot of work,especially when it's hot,some people want extra things done,they provide tools and more $$$!

Also make sure they know they pay per visit, everyone should know it can take a few treatments to take care of weeds. Let them know that and profits can go up even more as that's what the business I worked for did

Specticle is definitely worth it. What rates are you running it at? Single or split app? And yes, planning is far more crucial in the fert & squirt game. Gotta love this wet bama weather!! Great vid Jason
@lawncarelife4 жыл бұрын
I was using specticle at 6.5 ounces per acre in a single app

Esplanade is what we use. 25 states wide and 1600 jobs and that is the best product. It’s $1300 a gallon but well worth the money best product there is when it comes to preventing growth. Along with oust, diquate, round up, soap, pic, etc.

Do you use a 4 wheeler with a tank on the bike or a stand up lawn mower ?

Jason, you are quickly becoming one of my fav KZbinrs. It was great seeing you up in NOVI Michigan in Nov. Here is my question, if you dont mind answering or giving advise. If you had to buy a commercial backpack battery sprayer, what two models would you consider and which one might have the edge over the other. Thank you in advance.
@lawncarelife4 жыл бұрын
I won't be much help on this one. I haven't tried the battery powered sprayers. The only one I have is a Milwaukee but it is not really designed for lawn care
@MimizAntrax4 жыл бұрын
Lawn Care Life By Milwaukee do you mean the switch tank ? I been using that one for my Weed Control business and saves me time and does the job. It is a little heavy thou but you get used to it wouldn’t recommend just giving it to your average labor thou since it is expensive

I just sprayed 8 acres with prodiamine and roundup. Not a typical combo. I now have zero intrest in commercial weed control.

8 acres is a lot. You might have a better experience spraying a 4000 square foot lawn

For weed control around fences at what point is a backpack sprayer not going to cut it? Just did a job where I put down 17 gallons of roundup mix and not sure the kind of results it’s going to yield
