I wish I could have somebody that could teach me. I bought the books to take the tests.We've had a lawn business for 6yrs fulltime. I'm just tired of cutting yards with just weeds . Nobody out here in 50 mile radius treats lawns, except for insects.I just wanted to treat the lawns that I already take care of,to make them look better. I didn't do well on the practice test at the end of chapters and found out you have to take the test over and over each year just to be legal. I don't think it's worth it for me ....If I don't technically charge for spraying for my customers, would I be fined....?...They have hundreds of guys who cut grass out here, that spray Round-up for their customers...?..Wish you were local .I would refer all my customers to you Lol.

Hey Jason, a very insightful video! I am in the category of trying to figure out what kinds of products I need to use and when to use them. You had mentioned finding a mentor in the area, which I am in search of but I'm wondering. Do you have any other specific resources as far as books, websites, videos, etc. that you can recommend studying to learn about properly treating yards? I'd love to start to learn as much as I can on my own in case I cannot find someone in my area

Jason I really appreciate the video. We have a very decent sized mowing and landscaping operation but have not had the time to dive in and learn what is necessary to implement a robust fertilizer and weed control program. I know we could cross market this and increase the annual value of each of our customers. I would love to have your insight as to what tank sprayer to start out withas well as if you think it's beneficial to work with a supplier to develop a program. Also, what about trying to hire an experienced technician? These are the items we are kicking around right now.

After 14yrs . I’m walking away from cutting! Past the test June 9th. Category 24 and General standards in Ga!! Bought 200 gallon tank 300ft hose Honda engine. Sold commercial walk behind last week, keeping zero turn for personal use. But I’m out. Just can’t cut no more!!

@@lawncarelife Thank you, I really appreciate it.. My 1st day of training is tomorrow with a tutor in the field. Definitely looking forward to learning the hands on aspect of it. The biggest piece of advice I’ve heard all the pros say, “get with someone to help you get started”. That’s definitely the best and safest route.

How should someone charge for WC and Fert.? Do you recommend having one price for both or should they be separate prices? Thank you in advance.
@lawncarelife6 жыл бұрын
I typically charge the same for each application

Do you base it off sq footage? Like....$20/ per 1000 sq feet or something like that. Thank you in advance.

Hey Jason! I'm in Alabama as well and looking to get the necessary items to begin a turf /lawn care and management business after retiring from the fire department here. One of the most important points, to me, that you mentioned was having a mentor or trusted advisor/friend who can help you through the uncertain moments and learning the business. Would you be against me sending you an email or contacting you with a few questions Ive had as i begin researching how to get started? Thank you for the videos, they have been a great resource so far. -Trae

What are the chances of you getting caught treating lawns without a license. Is there that many agriculture inspectors?

Fantastic videos. I am currently doing work as an applicator for a company, but am looking to start my own lawn care business. I’m already licensed for doing herbicide and pesticides in the state. My plan is to stick to residential properties and possibly small commercial ones, as I’ll be a one man show. I was curious if I can email you some various questions I have about starting up? Keep up the great work with the videos!

Which state are you in? I know much more about warm season grasses than cool season

I’m in Idaho. The questions are more business related than treatment specific. When you’re doing fertilizer on lawns you mow, do you do a separate trip or do the mowing then do the fertilizer right away to save a trip? What’s the best way to go about finding what other places charge for the same type of service? I know finding the right price point is important in order to make a profit yet remain competitive. My plan is to offer mowing, weed control and fertilizer treatments.
@lawncarelife6 жыл бұрын
I would separate the mowing vs fertilizing . Eventually, I would recommend having a dedicated truck for each. Not sure how to get others prices. Send me an email to jason@alabamalawnpros.com and I can help you out with pricing

I only do weed control and fertilization for my lawn service clients, I want to be able to see the product in action every week and address any issues asap.

Sounds good to me. I'm sure you are able to do a good job since you are on the property very often. Some of the challenging part about we control is that we do not see the properties but a handful of times each year
