Excellent talk & good memories. We had John's talks when our children were teens and loved each one.

...one man's trash is another man's treasure...i LOVE dandelion greens...(organic of course**)...they are amazingly healthy...someone came over & saw me gathering my weeds [to eat]...& indicated i could get a food order...LOL...THAT SAID, i also LOVE the patterns of "ELEMENTARY" TRUTH that one must gather into one's mind what one WANTS in one's mind...if you just let "nature take its course"...it will generally be the"things of the world" that enter in...

Excellent metaphor!! Dandelions are amazing and a healing herb. They are also needed for bees for nectar/food. And we need bees to survive. At least let the Dandelions grow enough for the bees to do their job. Dandelions are a great gift from God that Americans treat like weeds.

So good! Thank you. This also ties into Matthew 12:43-45. I do need to say that a weed is only a plant growing in a place it isn't wanted. I love dandelions. I would rather fill my yard with dandelions than thistles.

Years ago a sister in my old ward gave a talk about weeds. Her great grandfather was the man who brought dandelions to the USA…. The family was not particularly proud of that!😂😂😂

I wonder how many people blessed that man during the depression when they were able to feed their families some dandelion greens. Some people even bottled tumbleweed to eat because there was nothing else.

They should be proud. Dandelions are miracle workers for our bodies. God has given them to us for good. Her family not appreciating what their ancestor did is like people who are no longer members of the church but they have ancestors who were pioneers and gave their lives for the beginning of the restoration of the gospel. These people know about their family history but they have no idea why someone would make those sacrifices and be so dedicated to something that sounds so weird and foreign to them. No appreciation. It's the same with the Dandelions. To her ancestor dandelions were considered a bountiful blessing from God and he wanted to share that blessing with others as he should. Today our culture tells us that dandelions are weeds and we can't imagine why someone would bring that to another continent; what possible use or goodness could be gotten from it? It's the same small thinking and lack of a desire to understand or research without using one's heart and the whisperings of the Holy Spirit that causes both.
