Week 1 of South College's EdD // What I Accomplished During CBE Doctoral Studies

Hi everyone! Just wanted to give you a quick update on my first week. This video provides a thorough overview of what I've learned about my college's doctoral program and how the courses are structured. I also discuss my progress and the goals I set for myself. It was a productive week, and I share the details of my assignments. I show my Google Form for tracking hours, task enjoyment, and difficulty levels. I made 20 entries throughout the week, although I didn't work on that many separate occasions. The sum of some entries represent hours of work in one study session, as the tasks varied. Hi, Justin! Thank you so much for sharing your journey. I began on 7/1 also. I am moving at a similar pace and also felt the same about some of the instructions. I have not began the second course yet, but I love that idea of jumping into that while waiting on some feedback. I am still finding my flow/goals. But so far going well.

Hi Shirley, nice to meet you! It sounds like you're working hard on your assessments. Ya, that instructions can be hit or miss in terms of clarity. I've been able to make it work by taking good guesses, but it's not always clear what's expected. If you're waiting for an assignment in the first course, I recommend jumping into the second one. I've completed about three competencies per course so far, so I should be done with both by the end of the month. It's surprising how quickly you can find a rhythm with the program. I'm glad to hear that you've found your flow too!

@@MariaOliveiraOh, right! It's not until the end of the summer that you start. I'm glad you're able to make a video about it-I'm curious. Have you already made the video?

@@lifebyjustin No, I will be making it within the next two weeks! Also, so interesting to know the workload at South versus the workload at WGU (I also did a Master's there.) I am so curious as to how the workload at UCA will be. I will only be taking 2 classes per semester.

@@MariaOliveira South College is a lot more work compared to WGU from what I can tell. But it makes sense since they have 9 credit courses at the doctoral level and the model is to hit "Mastery" as opposed to competence. Hopefully your program will be manageable!

Is anything proctored? Like the assessments are these proctored exams?

Nope, most assessments are written based. There are no exams or tests.
