Week 2 - Far north coast NSW adventures

Travelling from Canberra to Cape York and beyond for four months, this week we continue to travel north and find ourselves on the far north coast. Sadly the rain persists and we are unable to do our planned activities. Instead we find ourselves visiting Crystal Castle near Bryon Bay to avoid the wet. With no interest in the crystals we are taken with the beauty of the gardens and find ourselves exploring the grounds for hours.
The following day we move closer to Murwillumbah and settle into the Diggers Campground at Mullumbimby. Not only is this low cost camp well maintained but the adjacent river is home to a family of platypus who don't mind you watching them play. The town is interesting, with lots of birdlife and a "once in a lifetime" flower, flowering.
In a final move for this video, we head off the to camp with friends at south Brisbane and end up spending a great day at Stradbroke Island. Not only is Stradbroke spectacular but it is also budget friendly for the day visit. To date, our favourite day has been our day on Stradbroke.

Really, we paid money for a bird sanctuary in Penrith who were so pleased to have rescued a curlew and were hoping they could breed it. Funny how different parts of Australia have different breeds in numbers. Cheers Sharyn

Hi Guys , great episode again, I like all the helpful information you include in your episodes. The crystal place looked good but the cost would have turned me off as well John. I’m glad you got to watch the Footy, just the Team you follow is a problem and I am a life long Dragons supporter thou 😜 Continued safe travels. Thanks for the great feedback Darren, I'm always a little nervous giving advice about things, so giving our facts about our actual costs sits better with me. I don't think we will ever revisit the Crystal Castle. I also know that you will never get John to change his football team. He was lucky enough to be at the grand final they won and he cried tears of joy and still talks about it to anyone who will listen. He doesn't mind the Dragons though, they rate as "okay" in his opinion, lol. Cheers Sharyn

We took 2 months off last year and explored WA but I didn't do any videos until I returned home, and I must say that they consumed me. At the end of the day, our memories captured are our greatest reward. We love looking back and reminiscing. Enjoy this special trip with John, we are right there with you. Cheers Marg
