Duolingo is a great form for learning at the beginning. I did this for my first time and if it wasn't for Duolingo, I wouldn't know Hiragana nowadays. Keep up buddy, I think you're doing great :)

I personally got interested in japanese by watching anime, and now I'm able to understand around 70% of what Japanese youtubers and streamers say, and only extra studying I did was 10min of duolingo everyday ( I have a 170 day streak now.) I would recommend watching subtitled Japanese content (anime in my case) because it helps in correlating the words said and subtitles displayed. Also watching videos of irl japanese people speaking is the best way to do ear training in order to make it easier to pick up individual words and understand sentence structure.

I also start learning Japanese casue of anime. I think im going to do that as there an anime i want to watch that only in sub. Thanks for the help

I'm also learning japanese on Duolingo, I'm just gonna say, try working on your accent😅 so it doesn't stick with you in the long run and it's harder to correct after years of pronouncing stuff incorrectly that's just what i think anyway otherwise you're doing great! keep it up King
