week in my life as a new grad dental hygienist: a not so great week

hi everyone, today's video is a week in my life as a dental hygienist! I took you throughout my Monday-Thursday job working as a full time hygienist and what that looks like for me. this included my daily routine and what I like to do after a work day. unfortunately this week that I filmed did not end up being a good week at work, but I hope this can shed light on the reality of life and how not everything is going to be great all the time. although I am so lucky to live the life that I do and have a full time job, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. thank you for being here :)

I moved 12 hours away from all of my family and friends for a job after I graduated college so I completely understand you feeling isolated. There has been countless times I’ve wanted to move home but like you I’m stuck in a lease so I decided to push through. Now 6 months after I’ve been living here I am actually starting to meet people and make friends. It’s definitely not the same close relationships I have at home but it definitely has helped my mental health. At the end of the day if I decide to move home, so be it but I’m proud of myself for moving away and trying something new. You should be too. You got this girl!

i absolutely LOVE your videos, and i totally relate to not being a super extroverted person in terms of making new friends and building new relationships, i'm also struggling at the minute with not having friends living near me so spending a lot of time alone, but i'm learning to make my alone time just as fun as if i was with friends!

i loved this! i graduate dental hygiene next month and take my board exam in jan. i am so nervous to transition from school to private practice. literally hanging on by a thread, so i hope that all of this vigorous schooling becomes worth it. I've never seen your videos but, you seem like such a nice person! i am so sorry you were having a rough mental health time while filming this, i hope that you're feeling better as I'm seeing this a few months later. also, it's nice you can wear jewelry and nail polish at your office! it seems like a good office.

I want to ask you how you feel about your co-workers/superiors?I’m an introvert too and some past job experiences were miserable due to a toxic work environment full of jerks. Just wondering if that’s what is bugging you because it’s the worst and makes you feel like you’re the problem when really they are and this can be fixed!!

i am dumbfounded that your school didnt incorporate how to interact with the dentist in your clinic rotations. what school did you go to? did you see patients when you were in school? if so, did they not get an exam by the dentist on duty?

our doctor looked over the X-rays after we took them for decay and would write a referral slip if needed. they never looked in the mouth unless the patient wanted
