I really appreciate that you highlighted the value of meal prep services for people who have disabilities. There is so much ableism in the way a lot of people approach zero/low waste and I think it's important to make a lower waste lifestyle more inclusive.
@brendavale54642 жыл бұрын
I loved that you actually highlighted that when you cook yummy, healthy suppers, you actually have leftovers! So anyone who thinks it's too much work to cook at home, saw that the rewards last longer than one meal! And it's totally ok to get take out during your week or cook something from your freezer! Great video. Thanks!
@homehealth1012 жыл бұрын
Honestly as a single person, I plan 4 meals for the entire week because I end up with leftovers. It’s also a lot cheaper to plan four meals with four portions. It may not sound appetizing to some people to eat the same things all week along, but I find there enough variety for me. On the plus side, I usually take some of the portions and freeze them as I then have options to take to work with me or have supper when on the nights I don’t feel like cooking. It’s win win for me.

Your dedication to productively working on your work days and having left overs is fab! Thing is it is hard to have different meals every day as we do have left overs and so it is so realistic to not have a full week worth of different types of meals. Give yourself a pat on the back for being accountable uploading real life content and showing us that we are not alone in not having time and needing a quick meal here and there :) x

I love that this is actually a representation of real everyday life rather than making it fancy and extra effort for KZbin! Also I also do like a shop bought easy dinner on a Friday, in my family we’ve always done it. It used to be fish fingers, chips, and peas when I was little but nowadays I usually have the TofooCo battered tofoo bites, homemade chips (more like sautéed potatoes because I do them in a frying pan) or jacket potato, and a mix of peas, green beans and broad beans cooked form frozen, then vegan ice cream for pudding. It’s so nice to end the week with something easy and comforting like that!

Minimalism includes work, at least my interpretation is you reduce consumption so you can enjoy your life more. Reducing tasks some days by eating leftovers instead of always cooking can reduce food waste and increase time to do things you love. Even if you love cooking, sometimes a break is needed.

I feel like every time I watch a new video of yours you seem less and less interested in sustainability, I started watching in your minimalism and zero waste time, and now every video you buy new stuff or just don't seem to care about plastic waste. All those individual servings in that box it's just unsustainable and unnecessary, this box as a teaching method is just the same as your channel, and we are already here. I know you will probably think I am just a hater, but I enjoy most of your videos, and I've been here watching and supporting you for a long time
@MadeleineOlivia2 жыл бұрын
I am not less interested, I have just changed my viewpoint. If we are talking of Green Chef in particular, I shared my viewpoint about why I believe it to make sustainable living accessible in the video, which of course you can disagree with. I have to, and love to, think of all the varying people watching my videos. Those who are disabled, with children, mentally ill, busy, tired, new to cooking etc etc I could go on… who this particular service would be appealing to. The thing with “zero waste” and “plastic free” is it has no nuance. It is so much more complex. As I’ve got older I’ve understood the complexities better, and realised that the perfect, and honestly fake, vision of minimalism, sustainability, zero waste living, veganism etc. is just a farce. It isn’t accessible or realistic for the vast majority of people. I could make videos pretending I am able to cook everything from scratch, always avoid plastic, have time to grow all my own veg, use zero waste everything etc. but I would be lying to my audience. I am a human being and I live in an imperfect wasteful world. I hope to be access point for the many people who are interested in becoming vegan, living more sustainably, re-evaluating their shopping habits etc. Thanks for sticking around for so long, and I’d hope that if you remember my old videos I’ve always had the point of view that I’m not perfect, and I’d never want to encourage anyone else to be. I have also never ever liked the term “zero waste” or used it to refer to myself because it’s always been clear as day to me how unsustainable, inaccessible and unrealistic that way of life truly is. I hope this gives you more insight into my point of view on this :) because honestly living a life where I put the pressure of the world’s problems on my shoulders wasn’t a happy one.
@ourtubesocks2 жыл бұрын
Honestly as someone who started getting into zero waste about 6 years ago….your mindset does change as you learn more! For me It’s less about eliminating every single piece of plastic and more about flying less, driving less, eating vegan, voting for legislative changes, supporting smaller businesses, and more ethical companies. I do think it can wear on your mental health when you get super hyper focused on plastic elimination because it’s still such a big part of society and can cause a lot of day to day anxiety.
