Thanks for posting this video. I’m having surgery in three weeks. I’m trying to stay upbeat about it … figure I’m having so much pain now that I should be able to handle pain after? 🤷♀️ looking forward to getting back to my normal, active life! I’ve slowly given up most of my activities in the past year. It was very uplifting hearing you talk about hiking, etc., in the near future! I’ve got a new great-granddaughter I want to keep up with! 😁 Thank you and God bless.

I just want to say, I also have to have both hips done. I'm going to do it at the same time. I'm not going to go through 2 recoveries. I will have anterior procedure.I have put it off for a year. At first I was scared of the surgery, then I accepted that and became more afraid of recovery. I have a dear friend who had bilateral total hip replacement about 15 years ago and her advice was do them in one surgery. So I have a second opinion coming up in a few weeks and i'm going to accept whatever surgery did they offer. I'm having to medicate every night. In order to sleep and even then, I don't have a solid night at toss and turn with pain. So good luck to you. I'm hearing so many people doing so well and gaining knowledge through the experiences of others🍁🍂

Im 6 days post op and not had one good nights sleep. These compression stockings give me pain ..on day 3 my legs became like tree trunks black and blue and developed a itchy rash. Went to a&e and a very young doctor said the swelling pain was doing its job. I asked about the compression stockings giving me so much pain and making my legs worse and my daughter is allowed to take them off 30 mins only. They saidvits quite normal. They sent me home with blood thinners and ibrophen n paracetamol. I can walk fine with crutches and once the swelling goes down maybe 1 crutch but atm my leg is so heavy im convinced its the compression stocking cos when they are taken off for 30 mins my legs start to reduce in swelling. Im not happy right now, 1 nights sleep might help. I am so tempted to throw them in the bin and risk blood clots im that depressed with the leg pain. You are very fortunate you are doing great. How long do they tell you to wear the compression socks? Here in uk they say 6 week's. For me that's my biggest problem. Thank you fir making the video, very informative. Speedy recovery blessings from across the pond.

Hello. Actually I am 4 months post op next week. I did see the surgeon week 3 and he said the pain was nothing to do with the hip replacement, he told me to come back in a years time July 25 and any problems go to a&e. I came off the blood thinners myself knowing they didn't suit me and within 24hrs the pain level went from a 9 to a 4, I o ly then began to sleep gradually. By week 6 I was finally getting 3 hours sleep. My physio, sent email to anthroplasty for them to see me again and 2 months on no reply to physio or me. Doctor sent me to tissue viability at week 7 I still couldn't walk. They put me down as disability. Doctor sent me for xray which came back satisfactory. I am back at work I can drive but I can't walk far and need my crutch. I'm doing all I can do to stay sane. I have one hip which looks larger than the other now and I wobble without the crutch. I haven't the funds to go private to get this sorted and I simply can't face seeing the surgeon. To say prior to the op was walking my dog twice a day for near on 1hour but now I can't do that even with my crutch the pain is so bad after walking 15 mins. Every day I have to remind myself there's worse out there. I was unlucky but the majority of hip replacements have excellent outcomes. I can drive and work and so happy for that but it's hard, my movements are slow, I was way better without the surgery. Can't stomach going through all this again it's cost me dearly. My aim is to work save up and eventually get the courage to correct this problem. Thank you for asking. All I can say to others who are looking fir hip replacement check out the surgeon. I saw 2 surgeons and chose the who said he did the anterior approach, when I woke up he had done the lateral. I have been told to complain which I will eventually if I don't improve. There's such a lot happened I could write a book on the last 4mths. Nightmare tbh.

@@carole_Uk Oh Carole I know how much pain your in. I had my right knee replacement almost a year ago and it was brutal to recover. I have had spinal fusion surgery rotator cuff repair and the knee pain/stiffness took months to work out I hope and pray you will get better without needing another surgery I need my left knee done but just can't imagine doing it again. Def ask your surgeon why he did posterior instead of the anterior. That's why your in so much pain all the muscles that were cut and moved to the side Please don't risk falling by walking the dog 🐕 unless you live alone maybe play fetch instead I hope you have muscle relaxers or something else for the pain.
