Looks good so far! I can’t believe how fast they put you out of the hospital nowadays. As optimistic as you are, you’ll be dancing soon!

I had total hip replacement at the age of 45, 17 years ago. Mine was titanium from Stryker. Mine wasn't glued in, due to being younger, mine had a shaft that was porous looking. I read up in an arthritis magazine as to how to prepare for a hip replacement. It really helped. I wasn't able to bear weight on it for 6 weeks. The big key, do your physical therapy, and do it as often as you can tolerate it. Your pain gets less after you get stronger. Also take any pain medication 1 hour before physical therapy, it helps you do more exercises without discomfort.

Thanks for yours great comment Elizabeth, it is always nice to here from someone who has gone through the same. Last night (3 weeks) was my first night without any painkillers, so no painkillers at all now, which is great. I will just keep going, slowly but surely 😀

You need to use either the handle on your cane, a folded up belt and even better a leg lifter my friend when you get on your bed or any time you need to lift up your operated on leg. It's no longer your bad leg I hope 😊

Wishing you a speedy recovery. I had my hip replacement scheduled for the 11th October, it was cancelled as I've got flu. I'll be following your progress and hopefully I'll learn something

Get well soon 🙏 Just to add. That bed is soft. Put a piece of plywood or something hard like a tatami mat under the mattress protector. It will help the base of your spine and back muscles to support your leg muscles to lift.

I will have a look at that, mind you, the bed is firmer than it looks :)

Ohh, I was watching you at the bottom of the stairs with your walker thinking, "He's not going to go up the stairs with the walker?!" Then the walking stick makes an appearance! And I sighed with relief. Don't know why I thought they would have instructed you to use a walker on stairs 🙄 Anyway, it looks like you are not shying away from the work it takes to bring on a full recovery. I hope everything comes out tip-top for you Steve! Carla
