I went to Catholic school for 12 years. I was an alter boy from 4th grade to 8th grade. The priests were so kind and friendly. I never ever once had any issues. I enjoyed being an alter boy. I was never abused.

I agree with @nataliaalfonso2662. We did not get through it last time. We lost over a million people directly to COVID 19, and countless more who were peripheral victims, who died because they were unable to get necessary medical treatment because the hospitals were so full of COVID 19 patients. My own husband was one of those people. The pandemic tanked the economy, thanks to Trump’s inept mishandling- while the superrich got richer. Apart from individual grief, the country has once again put into power a man who is a racist, a felon, a rapist, a traitor, and a thief. For 4 years, American children grew up with that as our president, someone they should look up to. There’s no way to rationalize that. There’s no way to shrug and say, “We got through it before, we’ll get through it again.” America will never be the same, and this shameful choice is viewed with shock and fear by the rest of the free world. Putin is happy, though.

I had to really fight to get relatively minor health issues during lockdown in the UK, I can't imagine having to go through that time with a serious illness. ❤

I agree, but my worry is - - where were those classic American values last Tuesday? Are they in the rearview? Did we see the "new Classic" - - or just some cynical tantrum version of Classic Coke? In none of the previous decades of my 60+ years could a degenerate bully like this last 5 minutes in the public eye, let alone get elected twice, be enabled by the Supreme Court, escape prosecution for Insurrection/election fraud/national security violations, and do nothing but debase & erode classic moral values. Weekend Update was hilarious, as always. But does anyone remember the SNL episode from the weekend after the 2020 election? Dave Chappelle was the host, and the election results were officially announced Saturday afternoon. It was on at the bar I was at, and the overall energy and atmosphere was so upbeat and positive, both at the bar and on that SNL episode. Such a stark contrast to this episode after what happened last week. I miss the feeling of 4 years ago (weird to say bc of COVID, but at that point case numbers were going down and restrictions were starting to loosen a bit). Trump losing 4 years ago was the first time I felt joy after that hellish year of lockdown, and I feel like a lot of people can relate to that. We really took two steps forward then, only to take ten steps back four years later.
