Totally agree. I’d love for them to do a production gun similar to the Performance Center 5906 that they did as a demo for the Mexican Special Forces that Jerry Miculek showed off a few years ago. I really prefer the integrated rail, vs the bolt on rail section they did for most of the TSW models.

3rd gen Smith & Wesson automatics deserve much more attention. They never got the attention or respect they deserved even back when they were new. The da/sa factory trigger actions had a bit to do with this. The term crunch ticker was used often to describe them.
@jpmonster682 ай бұрын
The problem was always the DA trigger. The SA on my 1st and 2nd Gens is still super crisp with a tiny reset. The PC guns had amazing triggers, its a shame they never tried to get close to it in the production guns. My PC Shorty Forty has an insane DA pull, and i wish they all had it

Smith needs to bring back the 5906, there’s a resurgence of older designs being desirable. They should also absolutely make a run of those JDF ones lol they’d sell pretty quick imo

I was so giddy to see the 945 sitting on the table. It was my grail gun back in college when it was at the tail-end of production. It would be some time before I could afford a $2k handgun. They discontinued the two-tone model I wanted and subsequently axed the stainless a few years later. I was pretty devastated, but in 2016 I finally got a two-tone on Gunbroker. It's one of the best guns Smith ever made. I now own a pretty decent lineup: 645, 745, PC 845, PC 945, 1006, 1076, 4505, and a 410. I'm a lovesick puppy for the 2nd / 3rd gen Smiths.

Well, This was a great video on rare S&W guns, a little more detail would have been nice on the 945 & 5906. The 945 is one of only 5 ever made in that configuration, a special run built by Tom Gordon spec'd out in cooperation with Ken as is true with the 5906. The muzzle shroud was originally deigned by Al Z. while the version shown was a TG version that included the light mount and ability to quickly remove / remount. All fabricated independently by Tom G. outside of S&W, with mounting cuts on frame engineered at S&W by TG and the great pistol team in the Performance Center

As an avid shooter since 1978 I have always know S&W auto prowess as they had some of the best pistol Smiths and designers (no engineer driven) but experience smiths... Jim Fish was the legend. Then on to the PC days thru made some phenom platforms yet as time went on by the early 2000s they Smiths we're not there and they were replaced by Part changers and young kids who really never grew up in a 2A state of Massachusetts to understand 2A experience hense S&W painful bottom fall... Those S&W autos of those days are not looked at much as the young ones like polymer stuff that killed the metal auto and no revolvers shooters were coming up ... those autos are amazing to me...
