Merchant means Shang in Chinese. "Merchant Period" is Shang Dynasty (1600-1046 BCE). Robotic translators still have some room for improvement. 😁

The eBay’s buyers fee applies to trading cards that are kept in the eBay vault. There’s an eBay press release on it.

Actually the Bonhams' picture and condition reports are there. Just log into the website, and click on the side link. It will open a .pdf where there is an external link for additional photos as well. Somebody they are actually missing, the uv analysis on the other hand is almost always on demand.

Part of not putting pictures on the website might be with relationship building and data collection. Who and how many people care enough to reach out for additional info

I read that eBay is going to be trying out the buyer's premium in the UK and then moving it to other markets if it is successful there. There is a brief mention of it in the Antiques Trade Gazette.

I was just thinking yesterday that Ebay has been doing well not screwing things up like other major internet sites. Ok then nope they are going to screw it up. Buyers premium will be a disaster.

Christie’s has condition report right below the description, ready to view after a couple of clicks. I don’t know why Bonhams makes it so difficult.

To give a full picture on eBay buyers fees: On October 1st, 2024, eBay UK removed selling fees for private sellers, while business sellers continued paying the usual fees. Now, eBay is introducing a buyer's fee for items bought from private sellers. This fee will be a flat £0.75 plus 4% of the item price. This buyer's fee will not apply to items bought from business sellers.

As far as I know its only in the UK, from 4th Feb buyers will be charged 4% of value plus 0.75p buyers protection and sellers will only get their money 48hrs after proven delivery of the goods. In my opinion ebay will fold in the UK in the next 18mths unless they have a massive rethink. I did comment to a friend that this would happen once they stopped charging sellers fees late in 2024

The verte baluster jar at Bonhams lid is damaged and looks like a marriage to me. The 18th century blue and white platers are all repaired.

4% buyer's premium on sales made by private sellers. Buyers purchasing from business sellers won't be surcharged.
